Greeting all,

Performed traditional steps to get TouchPad running again.  Downloaded official Synaptics DRIVER from Acer SUPPORT site. Ran the install process. Messaged that completed successfully

- the Acer says, "Device is running" when check in Advanced System Information area.

VIRUS:  I definitely got "hit" by a virus.  Saw all the [TABS] start auto-firing ! !!  couldn't stop it.

(+) symptom that Network CONNECTIVITY was "cut" and overtaken.  Only ran again, after running ComboFix virus/malware tool.  ( Identified WOW system file INFECTED, and replaced.)

NET NET:

After multiple reboots, Network functions.

Can manually "run" Mozilla and get onto WebSites.  (know the ALT-F key strokes from early days.)

But the Mouse POINTER is frozen in middle of screen.

UNABLE to access the Synaptics TouchPad.

PHYSICALLY:  the machine has not left the house since the Virus hit.  All other aspects of machine operational.

Just cannot get "successful access" to Touch function of PAD.  * I know the Button that toggles ON/OFF and gives a visual

of the pad ICON. - to no avail.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

Out of Warranty.  (but technically capable)

Max Tillinghast.

I'd suggest reloading the system if you're having that much trouble with a virus.

Did you check the touchpad toggle button on the top of the keypad, where you power on the laptop?

toggle the key, I know quite a few people that accidentally turn of the touchpad.

Wow, thanks so much for the tip on the toggle! It really does help to read the manual.
