H9500BD Startup Behaviors

I recently received a H9500BD Projector from Newegg.com, and after I initially plugged it in, it appeared to attempt to startup through about 3 cycles, then eventually lit the 'LAMP' warning.   I unplugged it, replugged it and it powered up and went through the process again and after about 2 or 3 'boot' attempts (fan spins up, whine of the light attempting to fire), it finally lit.

Now, I've got about 11 hours on the projector (2 evenings of playing with settings and watching some Tv via HDMI from a Roku2) and I tried to power it up again, and it went through a similar boot process.

I push the power button, it turns from red to blue, then I hear the iris moving (mechanical sound) and then the fan spins up to near full speed.   This repeated 3x.   Finally, the lamp began to glow.    Unfortunately, this time, no picture was displayed, simply a dim grey/white light patch which was out of focus?   I tried to power it down with the power button, but it was unresponsive.   I held the power button down, again no response.

After unplugging the unit, I replugged it and attempted another startup.   This time, it went through the startup procedure once and the lamp lit with picture.     Given the high-cost of this item, I'm EXTREMELY concerned with the problems I've had in only 2 evenings of use.   Is my bulb bad already?

I've only run it using HDMI for about 12 total hours and had two failures.    I checked my error list and I have a Lamplit error at time 0:00 (first plug in when the lamp light came on the top of the machine) and two errors about power loss (which were both times that the projector had to be forcibly unplugged to get it responding).

I'd call tech support for this. This one is a doozy! It does not sound like a lamp issue, since it eventually comes up.
