Hello. I have an Acer Aspire V3-571G laptop. It is three weeks old and has Windows 8. Recently we came across a large problem. When we turned the power on, a screen came up saying 'Acer: Explore Beyond Limits' and a loading circle. This is normal. But once it loaded, a black screen with a cursor came up. We could see the cursor and move the mouse, but the screen was black. The logon screen didn't come up. The desktop didn't come up. Just a black screen. This is only a three week old laptop. We've tried connecting and disconnecting wires, pressing keys, etc. Nothing. Please help!!!

Sounds like there is a problem with the OS. If there are no lights or anything at all it's possible that you could try a power drain (power cycle) on the unit to solve your issue.

To perform a power drain, unplug the unit and remove the battery. Now with the battery out of the system and it still being unplugged, press and hold the power button for roughly 30 seconds, the longer the better. Now put the battery back in and plug the system in. If it worked it should just boot up normally. If not you likely have a problem with your OS.

To fix this you will either need recovery discs or a recovery USB. Recovery discs are available from Acer if you call the 1-800 number. They cost roughly 21 dollars and typically take 3-5 days to ship out. Otherwise you'd be best bringing the unit back to the store where you bought it and either exchanging it for another of the same model or asking them to install windows again.
