Intel HD graphics card outdated

Hello,
I am having issues with updated games recently and I need to update the Intel HD graphics card on my Aspire 5820T. The Intel website has brand new updates dating from this year for the graphics card, but won't let me install them as it says I have a custom graphics card set up by my manufacturer, being Acer. When I go to the Acer website to update my graphics card, the only update available is from 2011. Why can't I have the updated driver? Why is the one offered by Acer so outdated? Has no one taken the time to update it? Please help and thank you for your time.

If you're being warned while trying to update the driver that it is not compatible with Acer's proprietary card then likely the card was purpose built by Intel for Acer and requires it's own custom driver. That being said, if it was purpose built it doesn't necessarily run the same software or even hardware as the one it was based on, meaning that Intel's own card would require an update wheras Acer's may not.

Realistically it's more likely that you need to update DirectX than the driver, and more likely still that your system is just bogged down and could use a reset.
