Good evening to all, user, technicians, moderators and admins. My name's Alex, nice to meet you all.

After my presentations, here's the problem.

I've been using an Acer ASPIRE 8930G since November 2008.

From the purchase and since about 1 year ago, the name of the webcam was " ACER CRYSTAL EYE WEBCAM", from Control Panel to Skype, etc.

After that, the name suddenly changed into "USB VIDEO DEVICE". But the cam was still working.

But, about one week ago, after i used my cam the last time with Skype, the day after that ( and i DIDN'T REBOOT my computer), no cam was found.

The same driver, the same name of the device, nothing installed. When i use the program for the cam ( Acer Crystal Eye Webcam ) it shows only a message " VIDEOCAMERA NOT FOUND! " and the application (Acer Crystal Eye Camera, to take pics, video, etc.) doesn't even start.

When I go to videochat on sites and/or camera setting in Skype/MSN/etc. it just says " The camera is not working or is used by another process. "

I've user Acer eRecovery tool to restore my computer to factory default. But nothing happened, I've just lost all my data, programs, etc. But still the same problem on the camera.

Then, I've FORMATTED my computer, installing, again, WINDOWS VISTA HOME PREMIUM ( 32bit ).

I've even downloaded all two drivers for the camera from ACER DRIVERS SUPPORT CENTER, the one BISON and the other one, SUYIN.

I've installed the first, and nothing. I've removed the first and installed the second, and still nothing.

The webcam is not phisically damaged, because when I totally uninstall all the driver, and i do the option " NEW HARDWARE INSTALLATION "from Control Panel, it shows an " USB VIDEO DEVICE ", so the cam is not hardware damaged, because if it was so, no hardware or no new webcam were to be found.

So, what do I have to do in order to get my camera back to work?

Acer ASPIRE 8930G

Operative system: Windows VISTA HOME PREMIUM 32bit

Thanks in advice,

Alex

My first guess would be that the camera itself or the cabling/connection is bad. A webcame probably better than what shipped in your system would run less than 50$.
