Hi,

My old battery did not have much battery life.  I decided to buy a replacement one for my Acer TravelMate 4222WLMi running MS Win 7.  The old battery states it is 10.8 volts.  The new battery states it is 14.8 volts.  All other features are identical.  I first tried charging the new battery while using the computer plugged in.  Whether using the computer or later with the computer off the battery light just kept blinking.

I switched batteries and had no difficulties.  I was advised to just charge the new battery without switching on the computer; then use the computer only on the battery until the battery was depleted.  After that I am to recharge the battery.  I was then told that from then on I should have no difficulties.  I then switched to the new battery and charged it with the computer off.  The battery light was steady.

After about 12 hours I started up my computer only running on battery.  The icon and battery information says it is empty yet I have been able to be on my computer for more than two hours and counting.

Do I need a special driver since I am running MS Win 7 and may upgrade to MS Win 8 (32 bit).  I have two gigs of RAM.

Thank you.

Julian

    Hello Joshua,

I contacted the retailer (Discountbatt).  They told me there was one main battery used for all the models.  I then tried charging it up and had no problem doing that but when I switched on my computer the indicator said I had no power coming from the battery yet it lasted a few hours on just the battery.  After my computer zapped out because of no power I started recharging for a few hours.

I started up my computer during this past hour or so and the power indicator says my computer is plugged in but the battery is not charging.

As I originally said the only difference between the original battery and this is the voltage.  The original was 10.8 volts and this one is 14.8 volts.

    What do you suggest?

    Thanks in advance.

    Julian
