i bought an acer aspire 5515 from my local pc store used as a trade in. it had windows vista home basic installed and was not working hardly at all. a bought a new copy of windows xp pro to install in it andf cleaned the hard drive completely. when i went to install the new op sys, it would download the files and go to blue screen every time.  so then i bought a new HDD and installed it, same thing. downoaded the files toi install and went to blue screen.  so i restarted it and pressed F2 to go to the bios set up function. asked fopr a password that no one had . even the previous owner never knew what it was as he never went into the bios for any reason. now i have a very nice 2 year old alptop that was hardly ever used and 200.00 plus dollars worth of new parts and operating system disks that i canot install. and acer is NO HELP. they told me i had to ship it to then to have the bios reset. NOT HAPPENING> they ,as far as i can tell, are the only company that cant or wont tell people how to reset the bios, or they realy have screwed people by leaving no way to repair their system with out spendings 100's more that you payed for the machine to get it rebooted.  anyone have an answer as to if there is a way to rest the bios/cmos with out spending a million 5? thanks for the help !
