Hello,
I have an Aspire A715-42G which I recently upgraded from Windows 10 (which it came with) to Windows 11 Home version 24H2
Since it upgraded I have had a number of crashes. Total instant crash and reboot. No bluescreen
Event ID 41; The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly.
Nothing in event viewer to identify the reason.
I installed HWiNFO64 and looked at the logs when it crashed. Nothing stood out. CPU and GPU temps were fine. Battery level was fine.
I have upgraded all the drivers to the latest versions on this page
https://www.acer.com/gb-en/support/product-support/A715-42G
The crash still happens randomly. Not often. Laptop not under any stress.
The only thing left to try is updating the BIOS. My machine is on the very first version
Insyde Corp. V1.01
I can see there are now versions up to 1.10
Having read on this forum and elsewhere about people encountering issues after upgrading the BIOS on this machine I am quite worried about doing it. I've read about black screen on reboot. I don't want a brick. I still need this laptop!
Any advice? Anyone done it without problem? Chat GTP suggested I go to 1.08 and then 1.10 rather than straight to 1.10. But I'm still pretty nervous.
