Acer Spin 3 SP314-54N unable to download fingerprint sensor driver

Hi

I';ve been having problems with fingerprint sensor not being recognised by laptop after I moved from windows 10 to windows 11. I deleted the old driver and am trying to reinstall it. I have downloaded the appropriate file from the Acer website but when I try and run the setup file I get an error message indicating "Inffiles.txt" is missing. It appears the process has completed successfully but when I check the Device Manager there is no fingerprint sensor driver. Any ideas?

Don't worry about the SP314-54N driver in Device Manager,, set the fingerprint sensor up in Win-11 HERE and follow this guide, as it should install and work for you.

    These are the steps:

    1. Open Settings.
    2. Select “Accounts” on the sidebar.
    3. Click on “Sign-in options.”
    4. Click on “Fingerprint recognition (Windows Hello).”
    5. Press the “Set up” button.
    6. Click “Get Started.”
    7. Type the account PIN and click “Next.”
    8. Touch the fingerprint scanner with your finger a few times.
    9. Click “Next” when prompted.
    10. Touch the fingerprint scanner again a few more times with the same finger.
    11. Once done, you will see the “All set” message.
    12. With that, you’ve set fingerprint in Windows 11.

    Hi Steven

    Thanks for your quick response.

Unfortunately I can't do what you recommend as "Fingerprint recognition" isn't available.

I assumed this was due to lack of driver but it might be another problem.

    Any more ideas?

Use the System File Checker tool to repair missing or corrupted system files and follow that link guide to see how its done, and see if the fingerprint driver is fixed on your Spin 3 SP314-54N laptop, as the Acer driver should install from its setup.exe file.

This is the Spin SP314-54N fingerprint driver

If not then you might have to do a clean install of Win-11 24H2 and construct a bootable USB with Rufus 4.9 and follow its guide and then put the Spin SP314-54N IRST (Intel® Rapid Storage Technology) Driver version 17.8.0.1065 on the bootable drive and when you get tot e win-11 installation section at “Where do you want to install Windows? > Load driver > you need to load the IRST driver and install the 09AB section that comes up, so that you can finish the installation and once you are finished the fingterprint driver should be installed automatically in device manage. So try that as a last resort. Good luck and hope this helps you out to solve this problem.
