G-SYNC Tag on Predator Helios Neo 18 Screen, But No Option to Enable

Hi everyone,

I have a Predator Helios Neo 18 with a display that has the G-SYNC tag printed on it. However, in the NVIDIA App/Control Panel it only shows “Not available” and I don’t see any way to enable G-SYNC.

A few details:

• Laptop is brand new (BIOS 1.02).
• NVIDIA drivers up to date (580).
• Automatic Selection is on (Advanced Optimus)
• Windows 11 “Variable Refresh Rate” option is available, but I specifically want to confirm true G-SYNC support.

So my questions are:

1. Has anyone with a Helios Neo 18 been able to enable G-SYNC in NVIDIA Control Panel?
2. Do I need to switch to Discrete GPU only mode in PredatorSense for it to appear?
3. Is the panel maybe just “G-SYNC Compatible / Adaptive-Sync” rather than full G-SYNC, despite the branding tag?
4. If it’s supposed to be supported, is there a BIOS/firmware setting I’m missing?

Thanks in advance — I just want to know if this is expected behavior or if something’s wrong with my configuration.

The G-SYNC should turn on automatically like shown below which is from a PHN16-71 Predator Helios Neo and I've never ever had to turn it on, it turns on automatically in gaming and you will get a notification window on the top right side corner of the screen that G-SYNC is activated, as its not on all the time. You don't need to turn G-SYNC on in the NVidia Control Panel as the settings are like shown below and this gets set automatically.
