predator 16 Why does Acer charge $109+shipping and takes 2 weeks to reset a bios password?

So BIOS has password I can't remember.

I assumed removing CMOS battery would work, but it didn't, it just reset bios but password is still there. I know it reset bios because it enabled the intel feature I had to turn off when reformatting which made newly formatted drives unreadable (that's literally what it was because there is dozens of people with the same issue). Now windows won't boot.

I typed the password incorrectly multiple times so it generated a txt file with with a large string of characters that shows up on the fat formatted USB.

The file is named code.txt

This is predator helios neo 16 laptop.

When I called Acer I was initially told to contact Microsoft. FOR A BIOS PASSWORD RESET. I was literally laughing. They eventually got back to me and said I have to reset the bios password.

One would assume all you need to do is put that code.txt file into your system to generate an unlock code.

Why is this $109 and takes 14 business days requires me to send in entire laptop, costs $109 + shipping a laptop. I can't even use the original packaging because apparantly they recycle anything I send to them. So I have to buy packaging, pay for postage, pay to reset the password, then get charged extra because I'm sure they'll find another random thing they need to fix and bill me.

This has to be a joke a right?

Acer community members can't guide you on how to reset the password of your bios, search the web as there are guides on this exact issue, that is as far as I can go, so search the web with something like "Reset or Remove Acer…." good luck and hope this assists you further, as you should not have to pay $100+Shipping for this bug that some Acer laptops get automatically without being set you out.

this is specific model acer helios, none of those solutions work other than dumping bios without soldering.

You're talking about the password that generates on older models where you can put the password into a website so it generates a password to put in. This doesn't work as this model doesn't generate password after multiple failed attemps; it asks you to put in FAT formatted usb where it dumps a txt file with 600 character code into it. This code is useless for anyone other than acer. None of the solutions online work unless i can dump bios. All solutions involved soldering.

    Actually crazy.

It will take literally less than 1 min fix for acer and they are charging this much.
