PredatorSense Modes (Balanced/Performance) Not Changing CPU/GPU Behavior — PHN16-72

Hi everyone,

I recently formatted my Predator PHN16-72 (Core i7-14700HX + RTX 4070 series) and reinstalled Windows 11. Since then, the PredatorSense performance modes (Balanced / Performance / Turbo) no longer change the CPU/GPU behavior.

Before the format:

  • Balanced mode kept the CPU near base clocks.
  • Performance / Turbo had CPU overclocking enabled.

After the format:

  • No matter which mode I select, the CPU clock seems uncontrolled, going from 1.7Ghz all the way up to 5.5Ghz at will.

What I’ve tried so far:

  • Installed Chipset, DPTF (both versions), Intel MEI, VGA (Intel + NVIDIA) and all other drivers from Acer’s official site.
  • Uninstalled and reinstalled PredatorSense utility after drivers.
  • Verified with HWiNFO64 and ThrottleStop — PL1/PL2 values don’t change between modes.
  • BIOS is reset to defaults (v1.16).

Also worth noting that I can properly control the fan speeds and RGB through PredatorSense.

I know it's possible to use ThrottleStop to set different modes, one without turbo mode and one with, but I'd like to just get back the original functionality and bring back the function of the mode switch key since it also ties in with the fan speed and is just better to use than having another 3rd party app on my laptop.

Any help is appreciated, thanks for taking the time to read through!
