I have an Acer Predator PT515-51 laptop. Recently, a white line has started appearing at the bottom edge of the screen.

The line shows up randomly and sometimes disappears on its own.

When it appears, it slightly flickers or “shakes.”

I’ve attached a gif showing the issue:

I bought the laptop in the USA but I’m currently in Paraguay, so I’m not sure if I can access international warranty easily.

Does anyone know what might be causing this?

Would you recommend any tests to confirm if it’s an issue with the screen, the cable, or the GPU?

Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions.

    Hi SimplyAnPoro,

On the Predator PT515‑51, an intermittent white line at the bottom edge — especially if it flickers or “shakes” — is often caused by a bad, pinched, or partially loose eDP (embedded DisplayPort) cable connection between the motherboard and the panel.

If you’re comfortable opening the system, you can:

    • Reseat the display cable at both ends (panel and motherboard) and check for any kinks or crushed spots along its run.
    • Inspect the connector latch to be sure it’s fully locked in place.
    • If damage is visible or reseating doesn’t help, replacement of the eDP cable is the safest fix.

This fault can also be confirmed by briefly attaching an external monitor — if the external display is clean, the issue is isolated to the panel/cable assembly.
