I didn't charge my Acer Nitro 5 (AN515-57) for a few days, so the battery ended up dying. I tried charging it back up and turning it on, but all that happens is the battery light and power light turn on for about 2 seconds, then completely die. I've tried resetting the RAM and both batteries, but it still doesn't work. What should I do?

    Hi @isaac3100

Let’s get a clear picture of your battery status so we can troubleshoot effectively.

    📄 Step 1 – Generate a battery report

    1. Press Windows key + R, type cmd, and press Enter.
    2. powercfg /batteryreport…and press Enter.
    3. This will create a file called battery-report.html (usually in C:\Users\<YourName>).

📄 Step 2 – Save it as PDF

    1. Open the report in Microsoft Edge.
    2. Press Ctrl + P or right‑click → Print.
    3. Select Microsoft Print to PDF, save the file, and attach it to your reply.

    ⚡ Step 3 – Quick power‑drain reset

    1. With the charger unplugged, press and hold the power button for about 12 seconds.
    2. Reconnect the charger and try powering on again.

Please attach the PDF here and either tag me @Puraw or use the Quote function so I get an alert.

Do a proper Hard Reset (see methos below) and see if that fires your laptop up, if it doesn't, then the battery is locked up, as and if you haven't changed the battery in your laptop in 3-4 years, the old AN515-57 battery completely discharges and locks up, so what happens is this, as the battery is old, it locks up and needs a special battery tool to unlock it and recharge it fully, as you never ever allow old batteries in these laptops to discharge below 10-15% as they will lock up and will need a special tool to unlock them. But after 3-4 years its best to replace the battery anyway.

The only choice you have is to either take the laptop to a technician that has a tool called an "NLBA1 PRO Laptop Battery Analyzer Tester Repair Charger" (which aint cheap) which not many techs have or buy a new battery for your AN515-57. If a new battery doesn't fix the laptop booting and firing up, then you have a problem within the EC, BQ chips that govern the charging phase of your laptop and they need replacing and you need to take your laptop to a technician to be repaired. Good luck and hope this helps you out.

Hard Reset - Remove eleven (11) screws from the base cover to the upper case of your Nitro AN515-57 laptop, starting from the upper side, pry to release the upper side latches, continue releasing the remaining latches. Then remove the lower case.

Press the power key for 15 seconds to release all power to the laptop and then disconnect the main battery cable from the mainboard, then take the main battery out. Then disconnect the RTC/BIOS battery and then short the bios batteries + & - pins at the mainboard plug (as shown in caption below) to reset CMOS and then take all the ran out.

Leave the laptop like that for at least 30-60 minutes so that the EC, BQ and Chipset chips reset completely and then reconnect everything, if you have 2x ram modules, only connect 1x ram module and alternate the two ram modules and see if its not the ram that is faulty, as the laptop should turn on and boot properly with an image on the screen.
