I own an Acer Nitro 5 AN515-53-52FA laptop. Recently, I took it to a local repair shop due to a motherboard issue. After inspection, they replaced my Wi-Fi card and made some changes to the board.

Now I'm facing several problems:

  • Wi-Fi is working, but Bluetooth is not functioning at all.
  • My keyboard is behaving abnormally for example, when I press 'Q', it types 'I', and other keys are also mismatched.
  • Speakers are crackling, even after installing the latest drivers from Acer's official website.
  • The right speaker doesn't work at all.
  • When I check the system information, the product name has changed to "Acer Aspire XXXX" and the serial number shows as 1234567890, instead of the original Nitro 5 information.

Due to the incorrect product name and serial number, I believe I'm not getting the correct drivers, which may be causing some of these issues.

Please help me:

  1. Restore the correct product name and serial number.
  2. Get the correct drivers for my model.
  3. Fix the Bluetooth, keyboard, and audio issues.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi @sandy7747 ,

Thanks for sharing the details. Unfortunately, since the laptop was serviced by a non-accredited shop, Acer’s warranty and support channels may no longer apply. The altered product name (“Acer Aspire XXXX”) and generic serial number (“1234567890”) strongly suggest the motherboard was either replaced with a mismatched unit or improperly flashed. This can break driver compatibility and lead to cascading issues like:

    • ❌ Bluetooth failure
    • ❌ Keyboard misbehavior (e.g., wrong key mapping)
    • ❌ Audio distortion or speaker malfunction
    • ❌ Inability to retrieve correct drivers from Acer’s site

At this point, asking fellow users what to do won’t resolve the core issue. We're not Acer employees, and we can't restore system-level identifiers or guarantee hardware integrity. The best course of action would have been to take the device to an Acer-endorsed or fully accredited service center, where repairs are logged and validated—preserving your ability to make claims or escalate issues.

If the shop altered DMI data or flashed the wrong EC firmware, even BIOS updates won’t fix the underlying mismatch. You’ll likely need a full board replacement from an authorized technician to restore proper functionality.

The Acer Nitro AN515-53 model are very specific on what Wi-Fi cards they operate correctly on, make sure that the tech replaced the card with the oem AN515-53 card that Acer fitted which is the Intel® Wireless-AC 9560 which is a 1.73GB/s Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac) and a v5.1 Bluetooth, as and if its a Wi-Fi 6, 6E type card the Bluetooth will not work, it has to be the Intel® Wireless-AC 9560 card with the Acer drivers and allow windows update to update this driver to the latest driver that is compatible with your AN515-53 laptop.

    • The keyboard problems is because the tech either didn't plug the keyboard ribbon into the mainboard plug properly and that is why those keys don't work or the keyboard is damaged, so you need to change the keyboard.

AN515-53 Keyboard FPC plug, see if the keyboard was fully and 100% plugged into this plud properley, as that is why those key might not be working.

    • The speakers issue, is because either the speaker is not plugged in properly or its faulty, so replace the speaker

    • The problems with the mainboard "Acer Aspire XXXX" and the serial number shows as 1234567890, instead of the original Nitro 5 information” is because the board was changed by the tech, as a non Acer tech can't change those serial numbers and the mainboard model. What is the mainboard model number that you got now> As you need to take your laptop back to this Tech place and demand the original mainboard.

Note: That a Motherboard serial numbers are embedded at the factory and are tied to the DMI data. Only an authorized Acer tech with a special tools can update or modify these values. If a mainboard is replaced, the authorized technicians should input the new values to align with the system’s original identity, but Acer does not do that all the time.

To begin, manually install the Bluetooth, Realtek audio, chipset, and touchpad drivers directly from Acer’s official support page for your Nitro 5 AN515-53. Avoid using auto-detect tools, as your system ID appears to be incorrect and may lead to incompatible downloads. For Bluetooth issues, check Device Manager to see if the adapter is present or flagged. If it’s missing, reinstall the correct driver. For audio problems, reinstall the Realtek driver and test the output using headphones to determine whether the issue lies with the driver or the internal speakers. If crackling persists only through the speakers, the right speaker may be physically damaged. Lastly, contact Acer Support.
