Description of the Problem:

Laptop model: Acer Swift 3 OLED, Intel i5.

Step-by-step issue history:
First issue (started about a month ago):

Whenever the charger was unplugged while using the laptop, the screen would suddenly become extremely dark (almost black).

The laptop was still running, but the screen became so dim that it was nearly unusable.

Sometimes it recovered automatically after about 10 minutes, but most of the time a restart was required to bring the screen back to normal brightness.

Recent issue (after sudden shutdown):

While using the laptop normally, the charger was accidentally removed, and the laptop shut down immediately.

When turning it on again, it displayed a message:
“Upgrade process has been suspended. Please make sure AC adapter is plugged in and battery capacity is more than 25%.”

Since then, the laptop only works when connected to the AC adapter and shows 0% battery even after charging for more than an hour.

Unplugging the charger instantly shuts down the laptop.

Request:
Please check if this is due to a battery failure, power circuit issue, or BIOS/firmware problem.
Kindly advise if the solution requires battery replacement, power management repair, or BIOS reprogramming.

    Hi tulsiguptanainagupta,

It sounds like your Acer Swift 3 OLED was interrupted during a system update—likely a BIOS or EC firmware upgrade. The message about the upgrade being suspended and the battery stuck at 0% confirms this.

This kind of issue can’t be fixed with a battery reset or driver reinstall. You’ll need to bring the laptop to Acer Services in your country so they can reprogram the EEPROM and restore the firmware properly.

Trying to fix this at a local shop or on your own could make things worse. Acer has the tools to safely reflash the EC and BIOS pair.

Let us know once you’ve contacted support—they should be able to resolve it quickly.

What is the exact Swift 3 QLED model number, is it the SF314-71 or similar model? As that would help, as the symptoms that you are experiencing I suggest that a simple fix would be to fist do a hard reset and reset CMOS and the EC chip that could be freezing or its malfunctioning. For this you need to take the main battery out and disconnect the bios battery and shot its +&- board plug to reset CMOS and then put everything together and reboot, see if that helps. If it doesn't then do a compete reset of the OS.

If all the above don't work, the I suggest that you take your Swift laptop to a technician and get them to analyse your Swift laptop and pinpoint the exact problem and fix it for you. Good luck and hope this assist you further.
