All new Acer Aspire 1 laptops with the Acer preinstalled Win-11-Home OS have an embedded digital key (not a 25 Digit key per say) as the bios stores this embedded key, and its recognized automatically by Microsoft and its windows update should be fully functional and should update the OS fully whenver there is a windows update for your Aspire 1 laptop.

If the windows update does not work, go to Microsoft and see how to trigger the "Windows Update Troubleshooter" and fix why this updater doesn't work with that troubleshooter.

If the troubleshooting doesn't work, then do a clean install of a new Win-11 Home installation with the Rufus 4.9 bootable USB and follow their guide how to construct this USB.

As when you install the new Win-11, you need to have a Microsoft account and an email that you registered the Win-11 installation with, as afterwards, when you put your Microsoft account email and use the password into the Win-11 installation, the Win-11 OS will register automatically with its digital key and continue the installation, as it does not need a 25 key like and if you bought the Win-11 OS as a retail product. Good luck and hope this helps you out

This is what your Win-11 should have in Settings > System > Activation

Hi @edwardpowellwilliams , welcome to the community!

If your Acer Aspire 1 came with Windows pre-installed, the license key is usually embedded in the BIOS/UEFI. That means Windows should activate automatically once you're online—no physical key needed.

    ✅ Check Activation Status

    1. Go to Settings > Update & Security > Activation
    2. Look for a message like “Windows is activated with a digital license.”

    🧾 Review Your Amazon Invoice

    • Double-check the product listing and invoice to confirm whether Windows was included.
    • Some models ship with Linux or FreeDOS, especially from third-party sellers.

    🔄 Refurbished Laptop Consideration

    • If your unit is refurbished, it may have had its motherboard replaced.
    • A new motherboard won’t retain the original embedded Windows OEM key.
    • In that case, you’ll need to purchase a new Windows 11 Home license to activate properly.

🔧 If Updates Still Don’t Work

    • Make sure you're connected to the internet.
    • Run the Windows Update Troubleshooter under Settings > Troubleshoot.
    • If the laptop was missing documentation, contact Acer Support with your serial number: Acer Support Page
