Hello everyone. So, I happened to upgrade my nitro laptop (an 515-45) from windows 10 to 11. I'm usually like light gaming (no heavy graphic setting (i set the game as lowest setting as possible)) and i set my nitro sense power plan to power saver so when I use either to doing task or gaming, i keep it as cool as possible ( usually CPU temp below 50-degree Celsius). The problem is after i upgrade it to windows 11, the power saving on the power plan not working anymore (it suddenly makes my CPU temp above 60 degree even when idle). it became normal ( below 40ish degree while idle) when i put the plan on Balance (acer optimized), but when i tried to open the game, the temperature spikes again above 70 degree Celsius). Please help me so i can keep my temperature below 50 C again while gaming :'. I already tried to change the plan setting on control panel to all battery saving yet the temp still spiked..

    Hi Thyas

⚠️ Windows 11 24H2 Is Causing EC Issues on AN515-45

    • Power Saver plan broken in NitroSense
    • 🔥 Idle temps above 60°C, even with battery-saving tweaks
    • 🎮 Gaming temps spiking past 70°C, despite lowest settings

This strongly suggests EC (Embedded Controller) miscommunication, where the OS is sending power/thermal commands the firmware can't interpret correctly.

✅ Recommended Fix: Roll Back to Windows 11 23H2

To restore proper EC behavior and thermal control:

    • Reinstall Windows 11 23H2, which is fully compatible with BIOS v1.11
    • Avoid 24H2 until Acer releases a BIOS update explicitly supporting it
    • Reinstall key drivers:
      • AMD Chipset Driver v4.03.02.2056
      • VGA Driver (AMD or NVIDIA depending on GPU)
      • NitroSense v3.01.3028 for fan curve control

🛠️ Additional Tweaks for Thermal Stability

    1. Disable Performance Boost in Windows Power Plan:
      • Go to Control Panel > Power Options > Edit Plan Settings > Change advanced power settings
      • Under Processor Power Management, set Processor Performance Boost Mode to Disabled
      • regWindows Registry Editor Version 5.00[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Power\PowerSettings\54533251-82be-4824-96c1-47b60b740d00\be337238-0d82-4146-a960-4f3749d470c7]"Attributes"=dword:00000002Then reboot and check again.
    2. Disable Fast Startup in Windows power settings
    3. Set NitroSense to Balanced (Acer Optimized) and manually adjust fan curves
    4. Use HWInfo to monitor EC sensor behavior

If your NitroSense power plan isn't working after upgrading to Windows 11, the issue likely stems from compatibility problems or corrupted software. To fix this, you can try uninstalling and reinstalling NitroSense, rebuilding Windows performance counters, or updating drivers. If the problem persists, consider restoring your system to a previous state or checking for BIOS updates.

Here's a more detailed breakdown of potential solutions:-
    1. Reinstall NitroSense:
Uninstall NitroSense through the Windows settings (Apps > Apps & features).
Download the latest version of NitroSense specifically for your Acer model from the Acer support website.2. Check for Driver Issues:
Outdated or incompatible graphics drivers can cause problems with NitroSense.
Update your graphics drivers (NVIDIA or AMD) to the latest versions.3. Restore System to a Previous State:
If the problem started after a recent change, consider using System Restore to revert to a point before the issue occurred.
Open System Restore by pressing Windows Key + R, typing rstrui.exe, and pressing Enter.
Select a restore point and follow the on-screen instructions.

Hello sir @Puraw, I think I can't roll back to windows 11 23H2 since I directly upgrade from windows 10 to windows 11 (there's no choice when upgrade it automatically download the 24H2). Should I just go back to windows 10 if it'S possible?

Hello @Axxo , I still can choose the power saver on nitro sense but somehow it makes the cpu temperature higher than balance (Acer recommendation) one. And yesterday after I directly upgrade from windows 10 to 11 24h2, my power saving plan is gone from the battery plan settings(?) on control panel. I just don't understand, the CPU usage is so low yet the temperature is spikes. Kinda regret upgrading it but windows 10 will be not getting any update anymore right in a few months.

Hi, you can Clean install Windows11 23H2, prepare a Windows installation disk with RUFUS and download W11 ISO image from UUPdump.net

Hi sir @Puraw, my bios version is still V1.08, 21/07/2021. im not confident enough to clean install windows 11 23h2 like you mention above. i already disable perfomance boost, disable fast start up too from the begining. i dont understand i already set the battery power plan (advance power setting) all to maximize power saving. right now i put it on acer and in nitro sense in balance (acer optimized). The cpu usage both in nitro sense and task manager is low yet the temperature is spikes weirdly. should i stay on windows 11 or should i go back to windows 10? thank you.

    Hi Thyas,

Since your upgrade went straight to Windows 11 24H2, and you're experiencing EC/power plan issues, the best fix is to clean install Windows 11 23H2. Here's how to do it step-by-step:

    🛠️ What You’ll Need:

    • A USB flash drive (at least 8GB)
    • Access to a working PC to prepare the installer
    • Backup of your files (this process erases everything)

📥 Step 1: Download the ISO for Windows 11 23H2

Microsoft no longer offers 23H2 directly, but you can get it safely via UUP Dump:Go to: https://uupdump.net

    • Select Windows 11 23H2
    • Choose your language and edition (e.g., Home or Pro)
    • Download the script and run it to generate the ISO

🔧 Step 2: Create a Bootable USB with Rufus

    Go to: https://rufus.ie

    • Download Rufus (portable version is fine)
    • Insert your USB drive
    • In Rufus:
      • Select the ISO you downloaded
      • Use GPT partition scheme and UEFI (non-CSM)
      • File system: NTFS
      • Click Start to create the bootable installer

    💻 Step 3: Install Windows 11 23H2

    • Plug the USB into your Nitro laptop
    • Restart and enter BIOS (usually F2 or Del during boot)
    • Set USB as the first boot device
    • Save and exit BIOS

    When the installer loads:

    • Choose Custom Install
    • Delete all partitions (unless dual-booting)
    • Proceed with installation

    ✅ After Installation

    • Install BIOS v1.11 (if not already installed)
    • Install:
      • AMD Chipset Driver v4.03.02.2056
      • VGA Driver (AMD or NVIDIA)
      • NitroSense v3.01.3028

Set NitroSense to Balanced (Acer Optimized) and tweak fan curves manually.

Hi @Puraw , i only have my laptop and based what you describe above, i think i have to download manually from the web and install all manually which is really I'm not confident enough to do all the process by myself. should i just roll back to windows 10 since i still can? :(

    Hi Thyas,

Thanks for the update — and I totally understand your hesitation. Since you're not confident doing a clean install yourself, the best and safest option is to visit a reputable PC repair shop and ask a technician to do the following:

🛠️ What to Ask the Technician

    1. Clean install Windows 11 23H2 (not 24H2)
    2. Update BIOS to v1.11
    3. Install:
      • AMD Chipset Driver v4.03.02.2056
      • VGA Driver (AMD or NVIDIA)
      • NitroSense v3.01.3028

Once installed, ask them to set NitroSense to Balanced (Acer Optimized) and manually adjust fan curves for cooler performance.

⚠️ Why Rolling Back to Windows 10 Won’t Work

    • You upgraded directly to Windows 11 24H2, so there’s no restore point or previous version to roll back to.
    • The Windows.old folder (needed for rollback) is likely gone or expired.
    • Even if you reinstall Windows 10, it will lose support in October 2025, and won’t fix the EC/power plan issues long-term.

    ✅ Why Windows 11 23H2 Is Better

    • Fully compatible with your laptop’s EC firmware and BIOS v1.11
    • Restores proper thermal control and NitroSense functionality
    • Avoids the bugs introduced in 24H2 that cause high idle temps and broken power plans

Let the technician know that 24H2 is causing EC miscommunication, and that 23H2 is stable for your AN515-45. You’re making the right call by asking for help — and once it’s done, your system should run cooler and more reliably.

Let us know how it goes — we’re here to support you!

hi sir @Puraw, after some consideration, i deciced to roll back to windows 10 again (i still can) and it works fine and normaly like before (thank god). Later i will consult with pc repair shop when it's time to upgrade to windows 11 (maybe they can help me and understand more about manual clean install). Thank you very much for your time, help and suggestions :)
