🧊 Cooling Tip for Swift 3 SF314-43-R0AB – Performance Boost Adjustment

Hi @jeffryan ! Sounds like your Swift 3’s fan management isn’t scaling properly under load, and that heat buildup is triggering shutdowns. One potential fix is to disable Performance Boost, which can ease thermal pressure by preventing aggressive CPU turbo boosts.

However, the option might not appear in the usual Processor Power Management section of Advanced Power Settings. Here's how to reveal it:

    1. 🛠️ Open Registry Editor (regedit)
    2. Navigate to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Power\PowerSettings\54533251-82be-4824-96c1-47b60b740d00\be337238-0d82-4146-a960-4f3749d470c7
    3. Find the Attributes key
    4. Change its value from 1 to 2
    5. ✅ Restart your computer and check Power Settings again — now “Processor performance boost mode” should show up!

You can then disable or reduce the boost mode depending on how much thermal headroom you want to free up. It may not completely solve heat shutdowns, but it’s a solid step toward better cooling behavior without needing external mods or BIOS tweaks.

Your Acer Swift SF314-43 with its AMD Ryzen and its AMD Vega7 Core cpu graphics is a basic mid range laptop and its not really designed for gaming. Acer tested this laptop for the below temps and 100°C is its OS shutoff temp. If you do gaming and push this laptop beyond what it was designed for, I suggest that you change the thermal paste and cooling fan for this 2021 released laptop, if you have never changed the paste or fan, as the paste could be dried out and the cooling fans is faulty, as that is where the core problems stem from when a laptop overheats, plus clean its vents.

DO NOT change any settings in the registry as you can do allot of damage and could even brick your laptop with the wrong settings. These laptops are designed by Acer to work perfectly with default settings and proper maintenance, this laptop is NOT deigned as full on gaming platform and to do prolonged gaming on.

Your Swift SF314-43 model laptop hasn't got the adequate cooling for prolonged high temps that gaming produces, if you try and change the power settings through the registry, there is a high risk that you can cause more damage if you stress this laptop out with gaming. If you want to do gaming on a 14 inch Swift type laptop (btw, I'm using a 14 inch Swift X SFX14-51G with an i7-1260P cpu / 16GB DLPDDR5 RAM RTX3050ti gpu which is a gaming Swift laptop) so I know how these small laptops perform, then buy a Swift model with a dedicated RTX gpu's and has proper gaming thermals and fans, as I don't suggest that you push your SF314-43 beyond what it was designed for, as you will damage it. Good luck and hope this helps you out some more.
