I used my laptop the day before turned it off like normal. The next day I tried turning it on and it wouldn't turn on, no screen light up, no charging indicator and it also doesn't respond to charge.

👋 Hi @2andshalfdollars , sorry to hear your Spin 1 isn’t responding. Let’s try a few key steps that have helped others recover from similar no-power symptoms:

🔄 Embedded Controller (EC) Reset This is a common fix when the system won’t power on or show charge lights:

    • Disconnect the charger
    • Hold the power button for 30 seconds
    • Reconnect the charger and try powering up again

🔧 CMOS Reset (if accessible and out of warranty) Helps clear residual firmware data:

    • Disconnect the main battery
    • Remove the CMOS coin cell briefly, then reconnect (If you're under warranty, skip this—opening the panel might void coverage.)

🔋 Battery Health & Power Delivery Check Since the charge LED isn’t lighting up:

    • Confirm your charger and cable are known-working
    • Try a USB-C port if available—some models support alternate charging routes If it boots later, run powercfg /batteryreport in Command Prompt to evaluate battery status.

💡 Peripheral Disconnect Remove USB devices or SD cards before retrying power—these can sometimes interfere during POST.

Some Spin 1 variants feature a soldered RTC battery—so skip this if you're unsure or under warranty. This step’s optional unless you're in deep-dive mode

🛠 If none of these help, and there's still no response (no fan spin, no charge light, no screen flicker), it might be time to escalate to service—especially if EC and charger tests fail.

Its either the main battery that could be faulty or the main power rail that has circuities shorted. I suggest that you first if that dosent fix thre problem, then take your laptoop to a technitian. Good luck.

Hard Reset - Remove the eleven (11) screws from the base cover to the upper case of your Spin SP114-31 laptop, pry the sides of the lower case from the upper case to disengage the latches. Then remove the lower case.

Press the power key for 15 seconds to release all power to the laptop and then disconnect the main battery cable from the mainboard, then take the main battery out. Then disconnect the RTC/BIOS battery and then short the bios batteries + & - pins at the mainboard plug (as shown at circled area below) to reset CMOS.

Leave the laptop like that for at least 30min so that EC and Chipset chips reset completely and then reconnect everything, as the laptop should turn on and boot properly with an image on the screen.
