AN517-54 Power Button issues

A little over week ago, I've noticed I had some issues turning on my laptop power button after it took a few tries for it to properly on.

The nitro keyboard light up whenever you touch a key even very lightly, so once it was turned on I checked if I got a reaction from the power button and while everything else about the laptop works correctly the power button progressively became completely unresponsive (even pressing it for full minute doesn't do anything), meaning if I turn off my computer it become impossible to turn it on again.

I took it to the repair shop and while they were unsure what was going on, after they gave a simple physical clean-up, it powered on again and seemingly was fixed, but after a few days the power button started to have the same issues again and is back to be non-responsive.

Anybody got an idea as to what could be going on?

The symptoms that you are getting is that the power button mechanics are faulty and worn out and needs replacing, you can get new parts for these keys, try HERE as this is just one place you can get these parts. or buy a new keyboard if you want for your AN517054 model which if your language is US International its the keyboard below. Good luck and hope this helps you out some more.

Hi @Redem10 , I had a similar issue back in 2020 with my old A515-54G — the power button was erratic, and no amount of hardware swaps (battery, HDD, RAM) made a difference. For a while, I had to rely on the reset battery pinhole almost every time just to get it to boot.

Strangely, after a couple of months, the problem disappeared on its own and never returned — right up until I retired the laptop due to broken hinges and moved on to an Asus.

So if cleaning didn’t help long-term, it might be an embedded controller glitch or a power delivery issue that self-corrects over time. But it’s definitely frustrating. If you're seeing patterns similar to what I went through, it may be worth keeping an eye on whether it stabilizes or gets worse.

Hope that helps others in the thread too.
