I bought the Acer Predator Neo 16 i5 13500HX a year ago and due to frustration that battery doesn't last long (1-2 hours only for teaching, zoom application only and browser), I rarely used it. I get anxiety knowing I got it using my loan yet I can't maximize its use.

Do you have any advice on how to make the battery last longer? Brought it to the shop and they just said battery life is good and no more.

One thing more, how do I determine the wattage of this laptop? I need it to determine which power station should I buy. I'm not techie, so please bear with me. Thank you.

Hey RedLee, I’ve got the same PHN16-71 with the i5-13500HX, and I use it for teaching and Zoom too. Battery backup averages around 3 hours here, with Battery Saver on, Balanced Power Plan, and Best Power Efficiency. Yours sounds a bit short, but still within range for this hardware.

🔧 Suggestions to Improve Stability and Runtime:

    1. Keep the Adapter Plugged In
      • When battery drops below 50%, PredatorSense automatically switches to basic mode. This reduces system performance, fan control, and power flexibility.
      • Staying plugged in avoids this throttle and keeps the laptop running optimally during classes or Zoom calls.
    2. Update Your BIOS to v1.18
      • Available from Acer's official support site.
      • Improves microcode stability, performance tuning, and support for newer PredatorSense versions.
    3. Install the Latest PredatorSense
      • The Microsoft Store version has been phased out.
      • Download the latest one (v5.0.1463) directly from Acer’s support site.
      • You’ll get better fan curve management and improved compatibility with Windows 11 24H2.
    4. Upgrade to Windows 11 24H2
      • This version includes better power management, enhanced responsiveness, and fixes known UI bugs.
      • It also plays nicer with newer BIOS and PredatorSense builds.
    5. Check if ECO Mode is Available
      • Some PHN16-71 units support ECO Mode after the BIOS update. It can help with light use and background battery draw.
