Hi alan2245, Thanks for sharing your issue. Based on your model (Aspire E5-475G), there are a couple of key points that might help clarify what’s going on:

⚠️ Battery and Power Issues on Older Systems

    • Battery Age: If your battery is original from 2017 or earlier, it's likely well past its usable lifespan. Lithium-ion cells degrade over time, and after 7 years, replacement is the most practical solution. Running a battery report won’t change the fact that the cells are likely worn out.
    • Windows 11 Compatibility: This laptop was designed for Windows 10, and Acer’s last BIOS update (v1.21) was released in 2018. Installing Windows 11 may cause power delivery issues, sleep/wake instability, or inaccurate battery readings due to outdated ACPI firmware and lack of driver support.

    ✅ Recommended Actions

    • Replace the battery — especially if it’s stuck at 76% or showing erratic behavior. Calibration won’t help if the cells are degraded.
    • Consider reverting to Windows 10 for optimal performance and compatibility. All official drivers from Acer are tailored for Windows 10.
    • Avoid third-party driver updates unless absolutely necessary, as they may introduce instability on legacy hardware.
