Hi,

I’m facing an issue with my Acer Nitro 5 laptop where the Realtek audio driver keeps uninstalling itself automatically. As a result, my laptop speakers are not working, and I have to manually reinstall the driver each time. The problem persists even after rebooting, and it doesn’t seem to matter if I update or reinstall the driver.

Steps to Reproduce:

  1. Power on the laptop.
  2. Error "AUDIO DEVICE NOT INSTALLED"
  3. Checked device manager the only driver installed under Sound, video and game controller is "High Definition Audio Device"
  4. Installing the Realtek audio driver from acer website temporarily resolves the issue, but the driver uninstalls again after a while or after a reboot.

Things I’ve Tried:

  • Reinstalling the Realtek audio driver from the Acer support website.
  • Updating Windows and drivers to the latest versions.
  • Checking for system updates and ensuring all software is up to date.
  • Running the Windows Troubleshooter (no fix found).
  • Using Device Manager to disable and enable the audio driver.
  • Performing a system restore to a previous point when the issue was not present.
