I just bought an Acer Aspire 3, and Windows is not activated.

Does this variant not have activated Windows?

    Hi HENEPOTZ,

🧩 Why Windows Isn’t Activated on Your Acer Aspire 3

This usually comes down to one of two possibilities:

    1. 🔧 Refurbished Laptop with Replaced Motherboard If the unit was serviced or refurbished, the original motherboard — which stores the embedded OEM Windows license — might’ve been replaced. Replacement boards often don’t include the original license, resulting in Windows installation without activation.
    2. 💻 FreeDOS / No-OS Variant Some Acer Aspire 3 models ship without Windows preinstalled. They’re marketed for Linux users or those who prefer to manage licensing separately. These units cost less upfront but require you to purchase a valid Windows 11 license for full activation.

🛠️ Recommended Action: Use a tool like ShowKeyPlus to check if there's any embedded key left in the BIOS. If not, purchasing a genuine Windows license via the Microsoft Store or a trusted retailer is the way forward.
