Hi Everyone,

I’ve been having an issue with my Acer Aspire 5 (Windows 11 Home) whenever it goes into sleep mode and I try to wake it up, the screen stays black.

The keyboard backlight turns on and I can hear the fan running, but nothing shows on the screen unless I do a hard reboot.

I’ve already updated my graphics drivers and BIOS, but the problem keeps coming back. It’s making the laptop really hard to use on the go.

Thanks!

💡 Fix for Suspend/Wake Failure – Acer Aspire on Windows 11

Hi Rovmenpaul! Thanks for raising this—it’s a common issue with recent Windows builds and sleep-state handling. You’ve already updated BIOS and graphics drivers, which is great groundwork.

Here’s what works now with the new Windows 11 “Reinstall while keeping files” recovery method (screenshots below):

🛠️ Steps to run the built-in Recovery Repair:

    1. Go to Settings > System > Recovery
    2. Click “Fix problems using Windows Update” or “Reinstall now” (appears only when Windows detects core component issues).
    3. Follow the prompts—this performs an automated component-level refresh, preserving your apps, files, and settings.

✅ This option silently repairs core internals like shell, power stack, and registry without needing an ISO or setup tool. It’s faster and tidier than traditional in-place upgrades.

    🔄 Also recommended:

    • Disable Fast Startup via powercfg.cpl > Choose what power buttons do.
    • Post-repair, run powercfg /sleepstudy to check if suspend transitions now pass cleanly.

Let us know how it goes! This method’s helped others recover from black screen wake issues without doing a full Windows reinstall. 🙌
