How does one install windows 11 when it doesn't recognize the SSDs, VMD disabling doesn't work, and irst drivers provided on the acer support page for the product aren't recognized by the windows installer, intel drivers are a .exe that also is incompatible with Win Installer.

Drives are installed correctly as I am currently typing on the laptop with my favorite linux distro.

If it wasn't for Tarkov and bios updates I would just use linux.

Can I at least get a bios update that doesn't require windows? I am running 1.06 bios. Tha's pre microcode.

Thanks.

Would also like to know how to set her up in RAID 0.

Hi CrampyGUMBO—Windows 11 needs the Intel Rapid Storage (IRST) driver to detect the SSDs during setup, especially on systems with VMD enabled. Here’s how to load the driver without installing anything extra:

How to Get Past the No Drive Error:

    1. Download the IRST driver from Acer’s support site for your PH18-72.
    2. Extract the .exe using 7-Zip or WinRAR—you’re looking for .inf, .sys, and .cat files.
    3. Copy that extracted folder to your Windows 11 USB stick.
    4. Start setup → when it says “Where do you want to install Windows?” click “Load Driver”.
    5. Browse to your copied IRST folder → select the correct .inf file.
    6. Your SSDs should appear instantly. Proceed with setup as usual.

No permanent install needed—this just helps the installer recognize your drives. If you're building RAID 0, configure that first in BIOS and make sure the IRST version matches.

Let me know if you want help picking the right folder or spotting the .inf file—there can be a couple in that package.
