I think I need to update my BIOS. Version is 1.11 date is 7/7/2020. For my Aspire A515-55, which I just installed a new 16gig ram stick with a higher frequency; 2,666MHz to 3,200MHz. Any assistance or opinions?

To update the bios you need to Make sure that your Aspire A515-55 laptop is plugged into its adapter and to mains power, turn off all antivirus and malware software not the windows defender software's and make sure that you are patient and DO NOT disturb the Insyde bios update process until the bios finishes and brings the laptop into the Win-11 sing in screen, its simple process. Good luck.

Hi, ⚠️ Important Note on BIOS Updates:

For your Aspire A515-55, always download BIOS updates only from the official Acer Support site, specific to your exact model number or SNID. Even similar-looking models can have subtle hardware differences, and flashing the wrong BIOS can lead to serious issues—like boot failure or a bricked motherboard.

Do not use BIOS files from third-party sites, YouTube tutorials, or firmware from different regions or SKUs (such as India-market variants). These are often not cross-compatible, especially if the EC or VRM configuration differs.

    Official site: https://www.acer.com/support

To verify your exact model name, open Command Prompt and type: wmic csproduct get name

Or check under the System tab in dxdiag. You do not need to run Command Prompt as Administrator for this command.

    Better safe than BIOS-bricked.

    💡 Memory Speed Behavior

Even though you've installed a 3200 MHz RAM module, your Aspire A515-55’s Intel i5-1035G1 processor officially supports a maximum memory frequency of 2666 MHz. The system will automatically run all installed RAM at that speed—not because of a bug or outdated BIOS, but due to platform limitations.

The BIOS on this model does not include any memory overclocking options or XMP profile support. RAM speed is locked to what the CPU’s integrated memory controller (IMC) allows, and there's no user-configurable setting to override it—even in “Advanced” BIOS views.

No BIOS update will bypass that cap.

"YES" as its very logical that you always need to download the bios version 1.11 from Acer Aspire A515-55 support page, as this is very important, DO NOT update a bios or firmware from windows update as there is a high chance that doing it will brick your laptop. Good luck and hope this helps you out further.
