Recently, I have started to notice a barely visible 'L' shaped low bright area or discoloration in the first quadrant of my laptop screen. This problem is prominent when the screen background is white. It is not IPS glow or backlight bleeding but I could not figure out the exact problem. Can I use my warranty to get a display replacement? Do any of you guys have similar screen issues?

    Hi Vsktr

The “L-shaped” low brightness area you've noticed is often a normal variation in panel uniformity, especially with entry-level IPS displays like the one used in the Aspire 3. If it's only visible on fully white backgrounds—such as in Outlook’s compose window—and doesn't impact general usability or readability, it’s generally considered cosmetic.

🔍 This type of behavior is not typically covered under warranty, unless a technician certifies it as a manufacturing defect beyond the panel’s tolerance.

With most modern applications using darker or varied backgrounds, many users find this kind of variation easy to ignore. If it doesn’t affect your usage, I’d suggest living with it rather than escalating for a screen replacement.
