I am only using a little over 5 GB of memory. My task manager thinks I using 91% of my memory so that does not make sense. My computer keeps freezing because of the memory issues. Does anyone know why this is happening? Is there a way to fix this?

Hi, your Windows11 version is 2 years old, first check your BIOS version if that is 1.16 dated 2023/12/15 and then upgrade Windows11 to version 24H2. after the upgrade run (paste) these 2 commands as Administrator: Dism.exe /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth and press Enter, this can take up to 30 minutes to complete, just wait. The next command is the System File Checker: FSC /scannow and press Enter, this either ends with "Found corrupted files that were repaired" or "….did not find any integrity violations" repeat the SFC command till you see the latter.

I upgraded to 24H2 like you suggested. I then did:

    Dism.exe /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth

    sfc /scannow

This made it even slower and worse. I then rolled back the changes. Do you have any other suggestions?

Hi, you should have updated BIOS version with 1.16 dated 2023/12/15 first and then upgraded Windows11 to 24H2. What did the SFC /scannow command show? You may be several updates behind if your are still on 22H2, run the Update Troubleshooter and then click on Check for Updates. Regarding RAM, open Task Manager-Processes and click on the Processes column header that should show the number of background processes that are running, if more than 70 apps you need to uninstall some programs that you don't need, bloatware, 3rd party browsers, anti virus checkers, etc. Also check the Startup tab in Task Manager and disable the ones you don't use.

How do you update the bios? I have never done that before.

SFC /scannow did mention a few problems the first time I ran it then it fixed. When I ran it again there were no problems.

I have 90 background processes. Why was my old computer able to handle 90 background processes but a new gaming grade computer that is supposed to have high end specs not able to handle it?

I have disabled everything in the startup tab but mobile devices and Microsoft teams.
