Hi, this laptop comes with a 1TB HDD, and includes an M.2 2280 slot that supports both SATA III and PCIe NVMe Gen 3 x4 SSDs. That means you can upgrade to a much faster NVMe drive without needing to remove the HDD. I can recommend the Samsung Gen3 970Evo Plus up to 2TB. Also recommend to replace the mechanical HDD for a much faster 2.5" Sata-3 SSD like the Samsung 870 EVO V-NAND up to 2TB. You can clone the HDD to the new 2.5" Sata-3 SSD or simply backup the HDD to an external USB backup drive (2TB or larger), replace the drives and restore the backup to the new 2.5" Sata SSD (recommend W7 Backup-Image file option in Windows Control Panel).

Yes, the Samsung 980 Gen3 NVMe SSD is rated for sequential read speeds up to 3,500 MB/s and write speeds up to 3,000 MB/s when running in the PCIe 3.0 x4 slot for your laptop.

Your Acer Aspire A515-51G-5621 supports both M.2 SATA and M.2 NVMe SSDs.

    Specifically:

    • It has a single M-key M.2 slot (2280 form factor).
    • It supports PCIe NVMe Gen 3 x4 SSDs as well as M.2 SATA III SSDs.
    • You can install up to 2TB, though 512GB or 1TB is a sweet spot for performance and value

Samsung 970 EVO Plus – Super fast and long-lasting. Great if you need top performance for multitasking, gaming, or heavy work
