Hello there. First question here. I have a laptop Acer Aspire A315-55G-59B0. I saw 15" 1080p panels on internet and I want to know if it is possible to replace current 768p TN panel with 1080p IPS one. My panel model is "AUO81EC" shows in "read-edid" command in Linux. My panel is connected with e-DP 30-pin connector to motherboard.

Is there any compatible 1080p panels there, any possibilities for swapping this screen panel?
Have anyone did this type of replacement ever for Aspire laptops? Thanks for your answers!

Hi, you can upgrade the Aspire A315-55G-59B0’s 1366×768 TN panel to a 1080p IPS display, as long as you match the connector type and panel size.
Your current panel (AUO81EC) uses a 30-pin eDP connector, which is compatible with several 15.6" FHD panels. Users have successfully swapped in models like the B156HAN02.1, NV156FHM-N42, or NT156FHM-N61, which offer better color reproduction and viewing angles.
Amazon.com: SCREENARAMA New Screen Replacement for B156HAN02.1 HW:0A 1A, FHD 1920x1080, IPS, Matte, LCD LED Display with Tools : Electronics
    B156han02.1 hw1a LCD Screen 15.6" 1920x1080 laptop Display
NV156FHM-N42 V8.0 laptop screen replacement for special $69.99

    Just make sure:
The replacement panel is 30-pin eDP (not 40-pin).
    It’s 15.6" and supports 1920×1080 resolution.
You’re comfortable disassembling the bezel and disconnecting the panel cable (or have someone experienced help out).

Your Aspire A315-55G comes with the 1920 x 1080 screen oem fitted by Acer and it has a 30pin video conner plug, its very unusual that the A315-55G with its dedicated NVIDIA® GeForce® MX230 gpu was fitted with the 1366 x 768 screen, your laptop must have been a budget laptop of this version to have this screen.

Anyway, below is the list and specs of all the 1920 x 1080p screens that Acer fitted oem to your Aspire A315-55G, so I suggest that you use these exact screens for best results. Good luck and hope this helps you out some more.

    1. AUO B156HTN06.1
    2. INNOLUX N156HGA-EA3
    3. BOE NT156FHM-N61

Thanks for your answers. I found this panel on Amazon. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B095XHT5ZH?smid=A2BROEZP5ZTHI4

Is that suitable for my laptop? @StevenGen @Puraw Or which models are better between these 3 models you provided in datasheet?

Yes, upgrading your Acer Aspire A315-55G-59B0 from a 768p TN panel to a 1080p IPS panel is generally possible, and many users have successfully done this with similar Aspire models. However, there are a few things you need to check before going ahead.

    Your Current Setup

    • Model: Acer Aspire A315-55G-59B0
    • Current Panel: AUO81EC (AU Optronics B156XTN08.1 — 1366x768, TN)
    • Connector: eDP 30-pin
    • Backlight: WLED
    • Size: 15.6"

    Upgrade Feasibility

Yes, this laptop supports a screen upgrade from 768p to 1080p if:

    • The motherboard and BIOS support a 1080p panel (they almost always do for eDP on this generation).
    • The new panel is 30-pin eDP and 15.6".
    • The display voltage, backlight control (PWM), and physical dimensions match.

    What to Watch Out For

    Criteria

    Why It Matters

    Connector

Must be 30-pin eDP, like your current one. Avoid 40-pin panels.

    Mounting tabs

Must match the top/bottom (or side) bracket style of your current panel.

    Panel thickness

Some IPS panels are slightly thicker than TN. Ensure fitment.

    Cable quality

In rare cases, low-grade cables can’t handle 1080p. Most Acer cables do.

    Compatible 1080p IPS Panels (examples)

Here are some commonly used compatible upgrades:

    1. BOE NV156FHM-N42 / N43
    2. Innolux N156HCA-EA1 / EA3
    3. AUO B156HAN04.2 / B156HAN04.5
    4. LG LP156WF6-SPB1 / SPK6

    These are all:

    • 15.6"
    • 1920×1080 (Full HD)
    • IPS
    • eDP 30-pin
    • WLED backlight

    Installation Notes

    • You’ll need a plastic prying tool or guitar pick to remove the screen bezel.
    • Unscrew and unplug the current panel carefully.
    • Plug in the new panel and test it before screwing it down fully.
    • No BIOS update is usually needed.
    • The system should auto-detect the new resolution.

    Where to Buy

    Look for sellers on:

    • eBay
    • Amazon
    • Panelook.com (for specifications)
    • LaptopScreen.com
    • AliExpress (check reviews carefully)

Make sure to match the panel model and confirm 30-pin eDP support.

    Community Feedback

Yes, many Aspire A3xx and A5xx series owners have done this exact upgrade and report significantly better color, brightness, and viewing angles with IPS panels.

    Summary

    Upgrade Feasibility

    ✔️ YES

    Connector Match

    ✔️ eDP 30-pin

    BIOS Support Needed

    ❌ Not usually

    Risks

⚠️ Wrong panel fit/voltage, but avoidable

    Tools Needed

🔧 Basic screwdrivers + prying tool

@ileads I will buy from Amazon.

In my list I have 2 options actually:

    1. LG LP156WF6-SPB1

    2. INNOLUX N156HGA-EA3

    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B095XHT5ZH?smid=A2BROEZP5ZTHI4

Actually I don't know which model is better or which seller is more reputable in Amazon, these are the first options I found on Amazon.
