The Aspire XC-840 desktop comes with a DVD/CD drive recorder (search on eBay, as they are sold there or online) which are the units below, you will need those data and power SATA cables also to install this drive. Also see the XC-840 desktops service guide installation PDF guide that I've included below. Good luck and hope this helps you out.

Yes, it is possible to install an internal DVD/CD drive in an Acer Aspire XC-840-UB11, but it's not a standard feature. The computer does not come with one built-in, but you can add one if needed by purchasing an internal drive and installing it.
Here's a breakdown of why and how:-

    Why it's possible:
The XC-840-UB11 has a standard 5.25" drive bay, which is the standard size for internal optical drives.
You can purchase a separate DVD/CD drive and install it in the bay.
    How to install:
Gather your supplies: You'll need the DVD/CD drive, screws for mounting, and a SATA data cable and a SATA power cable.
Open the case: Turn off the computer, unplug all cables, and remove the side panel of the case.
Install the drive: Slide the drive into the bay, making sure it's properly aligned with the mounting points.
Secure the drive: Use screws to fasten the drive in place.
Connect the cables: Connect the SATA data cable to the motherboard and the drive, and connect the SATA power cable from the power supply to the drive.
Close the case: Replace the side panel.
Boot into BIOS: Restart the computer and enter the BIOS/UEFI setup to verify the drive is recognized.
Install drivers (if needed): If the drive is not automatically recognized, you may need to install the drivers for it.
Test the drive: Insert a disc and verify that it's working.
    Important notes:
Ensure that the drive is a standard 5.25" form factor for compatibility with the bay.
Check the power supply wattage to ensure it can handle the additional power draw of the drive, though most modern power supplies should be sufficient.
If you are not comfortable with this process, you can seek assistance from a computer repair shop or a more tech-savvy individual.
