Acer Nitro V (ANV15-51) Performance Issue After BIOS Update v1.26

Just wanted to share an issue we’ve encountered with my brother's laptop following a recent BIOS update. The laptop has an Intel i5-13420H, an RTX 4050 (75W), and 16GB of dual-channel RAM.

It was automatically updated to BIOS version 1.26 through Windows Update. Before the update, Valorant was running smoothly at around 200 FPS. Now, however, performance has dropped significantly, hovering between 60 and 100 FPS. We’re also seeing similar frame rate drops and stuttering in other games like Control and Outlast 2.

Is anyone else experiencing the same issue or has found a possible workaround? Thanks!

Its always suggested that all bios updates NOT be updated through Windows Update for any Acer products, you ALWAYS update bios from the official Acer support site for the Nitro ANV15-51 laptop, as the bios version 1.26 is there, which could be a reason for these issues.

The ANV15-51 bios 1.26 only updated the EC chip program firmware that has an affect on the "Thermal measurement (CPU, GPU, Motherboard) and response including fan control, CPU and GPU throttling, and emergency shutdown in response to rising temperatures" which could have affected the performance of the Nitro ANV15-51 laptop.

I suggest that you update the NVidia Game Ready driver for the RTX4050 gpu which the latest version for the RTX4050 gpu is the NVidia Game Ready Driver version 576.80 and also install and play all games like Valorant and Control that are all supported by GeForce experience ultimate settings app through this specialist NVidia app. So download this NVidia App and install this app as your gaming experience will improve considerably. Controlling indicator LEDs (e.g. caps lock, scroll lock, num lock, battery, ac, power, wireless LAN, sleep)
Managing the battery charger and the battery[2]
Allowing remote diagnostics and remediation over the network
Performing software-requested CPU reset[1]
Controlling the watchdog timer [2]
System Management Interrupt (entry to System Management Mode)
Bluetooth toggle
Controlling display brightness (built-in LCD or OLED)
USB OC (overcurrent) (USB disable)
Controlling RGB lighting
Wake-on-LAN
Debug Card Interface (Enables repair centers to monitor the boot process with a special device in an attempt to fix problems)

Regarding the issue, the BIOS update was unfortunately installed automatically through Windows Update. We had no intention of updating the BIOS, and the last time we checked, it was listed under Optional Updates, so we were quite surprised when it pushed through on its own.

To provide more details, we’ve observed low GPU usage (around 10–20%) and high CPU usage (50–80%) while playing games. We’ve tried various steps to improve performance, such as enabling performance mode, but none have made a noticeable difference.

It’s also worth mentioning that we’re not alone in experiencing this, other users with the same model have also reported performance drops after the update. With that, we’d like to ask: is it possible for Acer to release a future BIOS update to address this issue?
