Make sure that your Aspire 5738z battery is not faulty or older than 4 years, as that is the main culprit to these laptops not turning on and not charging and having those lights flashing. check the adapter also if its charging and working with a multi meter if its outputting 19V, see list of Acer oem adapters and batteries for the Aspire 5738z model below.

Also do a Hard Reset of this laptop and also change the old bios battery, and after taking the old bios battery out, short this batteries mainboard +&- pins at the plug to reset CMOS, then take the ram out and leave the laptop like that for at least 30 - 60min so that the laptop EC, Chipset and bios chips reset. As afterwards if the laptops main power rail is not faulty, as the laptop should reboot and not have any lights flashing for any battery issues.

If the battery lights still flash, then you need to take this laptop to a technician so that they can analyse and pinpoint the exact issues with your charging and power. Good luck and hope this helps you out further.

RTC bios battery plug, take the battery out and short its +&- pins to reset CMOS with metal tweezers

Yes, the Acer Aspire 5738Z does have a replaceable CMOS coin-cell battery, typically a CR2032. However, accessing it requires partial disassembly of the laptop. The CMOS battery is located on the motherboard, under the keyboard near the RAM slots.

If your Acer Aspire 5738z laptop is not turning on, try a hard reset, check the power adapter and battery, and inspect the DC power jack. If these basic troubleshooting steps don't work, it could indicate a hardware failure requiring professional repair.

    Troubleshooting Steps:
    1. Hard Reset:
Disconnect the power adapter and remove the battery.
Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds to drain any residual power.
Reconnect the power adapter (but not the battery yet) and try turning on the laptop.
If it powers on, the battery might be the issue.
    2. Check Power Adapter and Battery:
Ensure the power adapter is securely plugged into both the laptop and a working power outlet.
If you have a spare, compatible power adapter, try using it to rule out a faulty adapter.
If the laptop turns on with the adapter but not with the battery, the battery might be the problem.
    3. Inspect DC Power Jack:
Examine the DC power jack on the laptop for any signs of damage or loose connections.
If you suspect a faulty DC jack, consider seeking professional help for repair or replacement.
    4. Listen for Beep Codes:
When attempting to turn on the laptop, listen for any beep codes. These can indicate specific hardware issues, such as memory problems or motherboard failures.
Refer to the Acer support website or your laptop's manual for a list of beep codes and their meanings.
    5. Consider Professional Repair:
If the laptop still doesn't turn on after trying these steps, there might be a more serious hardware problem, such as a faulty motherboard, RAM, or hard drive.
In such cases, it's best to consult with a qualified technician or Acer support for diagnosis and repair.

When I plug the laptop in without the battery the blue power button light turns on and the charger light doesn't turn on because there is no battery I think but why doesn't it turn on or even run in AC mode when I press the power button
