So, previously after power button mysteriously stopped working and the guy from service Centre tried to scam me instead of just fixing it,

I shorted the connection between keyboard and motherboard and got to turn on the laptop, and luckily the power button started working normally ever since.

But the problem now was, it isn't running on battery, the software detects it and shows health is good, but when the AC is detached, it turns off completely. I've rechecked and all parts are connected well and safe inside.

Hi, did you disconnect the battery before making this short circuit? If not you may have damaged the motherboard. Run a battery report, paste this in the command prompt: powercfg /batteryreport and open the report with your Edge browser, press Ctrl + P or right click and select "Print to Microsoft PDF", attach the report to your reply, type @Puraw or use "Quote" when you reply so I will get an alert.

@Puraw here is the battery report

Hi the report shows only 2% battery wear after almost 2 years, that should be 20% wear so that battery capacity has not been properly registered, also no power drainage was recorded over the last 3 days (blank profile) indicating that the battery is not connected or not working. 2 hours battery life does not make sense with only 2% wear which confirms that the full charged capacity is logged wrong. Reset the battery again, there is a small pinhole in the back of your laptop (with a battery sign), stick a pin in that hole till you feel it click (micro switch), keep pressing the pin for a few seconds. Rset BIOS with F9 and F10 (save changes) and uninstall these 2 battery drivers in Device manager (see red circle, picture) and reboot.

Try to charge the battery now, if still no charging possible you probably have a power rail problem and should bring the laptop to Acer Services in your country, the warranty may still be running. Not sure a new battery will help any.

@Puraw Thank you for informing me, but rather it did not work and I'd think it is a power rail problem,

That aside, what I'm seeing here is battery life estimates are always almost close to 2 hours, which should rather be more, or is the log registered wrongly from the start, or was the battery at fault from the start,

If a software indicates a good battery but your Acer Nitro laptop shuts down immediately when unplugged from AC power, it's likely a hardware issue with the battery or its connection to the motherboard. Specifically, the battery may not be holding a charge or there's a problem with the charging circuit or power management.

Here's a breakdown of potential causes and troubleshooting steps:
    1. Battery Issues:
Dead or degraded battery: The battery might be unable to hold a charge, even if the system detects it as good. This can happen with older batteries or those that have been heavily used.
Battery calibration issue: The system might be incorrectly reporting the battery's charge level.
Faulty battery connector: The connection between the battery and the motherboard might be loose or damaged.
    2. Charging Circuit Problems:
    Faulty charging circuit:
The circuitry on the motherboard that manages charging the battery might be malfunctioning.
    Power management issues:

The system might not be correctly switching to battery power when the AC adapter is disconnected.
    3. Other potential issues:
    Software problems:
While less likely, a misconfigured power plan or outdated drivers could also contribute.
    Hardware conflicts:
In rare cases, a conflicting hardware component might cause the system to shut down when power is switched.

    Troubleshooting Steps:
    1. Check Battery Health:
Battery Report: Generate a battery report in Windows (search for "Command Prompt" and run as administrator, then type powercfg /batteryreport). Review the full charge capacity and compare it to the design capacity. If the full charge capacity is significantly lower than the design capacity, the battery may need replacing, according to Acer Community.
BIOS Check: Access the BIOS (usually by pressing F2 or Delete during startup) and check the battery status and charging information.

    2. Update Drivers:
Ensure your chipset, graphics, and battery drivers are up to date. Go to Device Manager, expand "Batteries", and update the drivers for your battery.
    3. Power Plan Settings:
Review your power plan settings in Windows. Ensure the "Balanced" or "High Performance" plan is selected and that the "Power saving" options are not overly restrictive.

    4. Hardware Reset:
    Shut down the laptop completely.
    Disconnect the AC adapter.
    Remove the battery (if possible).
Hold the power button down for 30 seconds to 1 minute to discharge residual power. according to an Acer Community discussion.
    Reconnect the battery (if removed).
Reconnect the AC adapter and power on the laptop.

    5. Test with a different AC adapter:
If possible, try using a different compatible AC adapter to rule out adapter issues.
    6. Run the Power Troubleshooter:
Open Settings, navigate to System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters, and run the "Power" troubleshooter. This might identify and fix some issues.
    7. Consult Acer Support:
If the problem persists, it's best to contact Acer support or a qualified technician. They can diagnose and repair the hardware issues with your laptop.
