Warranty not valid despite purchase within 12 months

I purchased an ACER chromebook from Amazon in January 2025. There is an issue with the battery so I tried to trigger the warranty. However, ACER support tells me the following:

"Kindly be advised that this unit shows as a US machine, we do not book US machines for permanent residents of the UK. You can try our out of warranty repair partner to see if they can assist you. They will be able to advise on cost."

I don't understand how I'm going to have to pay to fix a product that is still under warranty.

Does anyone know anything about this situation?
