Hi, I recently purchased an acer monitor that I have confirmed has built in speakers (model number XZ322QU). I tried connecting it to my NVIDIA GeForce card in my Dell XPS 8960 computer using both an HDMI cable and the DP cable (separately, I tried both; I also tried all the DP cable ports on the computer). I have also tried connecting the audio jack on the monitor with all the various audio ports on my computer.

None of this allows sound to come out.

I was playing a YouTube music video while I was doing these tests. The volume is up on the YouTube volume bar (and it's not on mute); the volume is up on the task bar (and is not on mute); and when I went to the settings part of the Acer monitor the volume was set at 70 and I changed it to 100 and again made sure it was not on mute.

My computer is running Windows 11 Home.

At this point I do not know what else to try.

FYI. I can listen to calls on Zoom when I connect my Bluetooth headset. But, interestingly, I cannot hear the YouTube video this way.

I would greatly appreciate some help!

Kindra

The XZ322QU monitors 2x 3W speakers audio should be connected and function automatically by either the HDMI or DP connecting cables, make sure that you have the Monitor driver v1.0 installed and the Acer Display Widget installed also, also look at the monitors Audio volume and Mute setting in the menu where you can adjust the speakers sound, check if you haven't got the audio set at Mute, as that could be a problem.

This is the QuickStartGuide details from the Acer XZ322QU eManual provided by Acer, so follow the below guide as you must have done something wrong as the 2x 3W speakers should work.

If your Acer XZ322QU monitor's built-in speakers aren't producing sound, the issue likely lies with your connection, settings, or drivers. Here's a breakdown of potential causes and solutions:-

    1. Check Connections:
Ensure correct cable type: Use HDMI-to-HDMI or DisplayPort-to-DisplayPort for audio transmission from PC to monitor.
Verify cable integrity: Inspect the cables for damage or loose connections.
    2. Monitor Settings:
Check volume: Ensure the monitor's built-in speaker volume is not muted or set to low.
Confirm default output device: In Windows settings, make sure the monitor's speakers are selected as the default playback device.
Enable monitor speakers: Verify that the monitor's speaker option is enabled in the monitor's OSD (On-Screen Display).
    3. PC Settings and Drivers:
Update audio drivers: Ensure your PC's audio drivers (e.g., Realtek or NVIDIA) are up-to-date.
Troubleshoot audio: Run Windows' built-in audio troubleshooter to diagnose and fix potential problems.
Check Device Manager: In Device Manager, verify that the monitor's audio input and output devices are correctly recognized.
    4. Test with another monitor or speakers:
    Test with different output device:
If possible, connect your PC to a different monitor or set of speakers to isolate whether the issue is with the PC or the XZ322QU.
    Test with external speakers:
Connect external speakers to the monitor's headphone jack to verify the monitor's audio circuitry is functioning correctly.
    5. HDMI Exclusive Mode:
Disable Exclusive Mode: If using HDMI, ensure that "Exclusive Mode" is disabled in the HDMI audio device properties.
    6. Power Cycle:
Restart PC and Monitor: Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve temporary glitches.
Just bought a new monitor, wanted to use the monitor ...
If these steps fail to resolve the issue, it's possible the monitor's speakers may be malfunctioning, and contacting Acer support is recommended.
