Hi, this laptop is from early 2021 and the fan may need cleaning (overheating issues). After checking/cleaning the fan (make sure to disconnect the battery first) boot to Safe Mode to check if the system is stable with the basic video adopter, if no freezing occurs in Safe Mode you need to uninstall the Nvidia dGPU driver with DDU (see picture red arrow) in Safe Mode and just reboot, don't install any drivers. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/windows-startup-settings-1af6ec8c-4d4a-4b23-adb7-e76eef0b847f

Random freezes on an Acer Aspire A715-42G can stem from a variety of factors, including hardware issues (like failing RAM or overheating), software conflicts, or even BIOS settings. To diagnose the problem, you can try a few troubleshooting steps.

    1. Check for Overheating:
    Monitor CPU temperature:
Use a program like HWMonitor to check the CPU temperature. If it's consistently high (above 85°C), it could be causing freezes.
    Ensure proper ventilation:
Make sure the laptop is on a hard surface and not on a bed or soft surface that might obstruct airflow.
    2. Check RAM and other hardware:
    Run Windows Memory Diagnostic Tool:
As PCMag points out, bad memory can cause freezes. This tool can help identify faulty RAM.
    Check for other hardware issues:
Use the Windows Device Manager to check for any error codes or problems with other devices.
    3. Update Software:
Update Windows and drivers: Ensure your operating system and all drivers (especially graphics drivers) are up-to-date, as Secure Data Recovery notes.
Update BIOS firmware: Check the Acer website for updates to your BIOS firmware.
    4. Investigate Software Conflicts:
Run a clean boot: This can help identify if any software is causing the freezes. To do this, follow the instructions in the Windows documentation for a clean boot.
Check for malicious software: Run a full antivirus scan.
    5. Check BIOS Settings:
Reset to default BIOS settings: If you've made any changes to the BIOS settings (especially overclocking), reset them to the default values.
If you've tried these steps and the freezing continues, it might be necessary to seek professional help or consider contacting Acer support for further assistance.
