Subject: Intermittent Wi-Fi Dropouts – Could Dead CMOS Battery Be the Culprit?

Brand/Model: Asus UM562IA-EZ025T

Serial Number: M4N0CV0852XXXXX

Hi all – new user here, so go easy on me!

Had a laptop come in with an intermittent Wi-Fi issue – sometimes the adapter works fine, sometimes it just drops out. I set it up on my test Wi-Fi network, ran Wireshark for 10 hours straight – zero dropouts.

Customer then asked me to replace the swollen internal battery (not CMOS, the main one). Done and dusted, laptop ran fine on his desk for an hour before I returned back to base

Five hours later, customer emails me: "Wi-Fi dropping again."

Laptop's now back with me. First boot, it connects to my network no problem. My Laptop and Mobile Both connects to his Wi-Fi 7 router here (and I can browse just fine on both his router and mine using this laptop and my own devices.

Now here's the kicker – I’ve just noticed the CMOS battery inside the laptop is totally dead. Won’t hold BIOS settings or time. Could that cause this kind of flaky Wi-Fi behavior? Or am I chasing ghosts?

Appreciate any insights.
