Unable to open predator sense window on Predator Helios 500 PH517-61 laptop

Upon pressing the quick hotkey or finding the application within file explorer and opening it that way, the predator sense attempts to open but after the logo part, it never actually opens.

I have tried reinstalling latest, installing the AppxPackage, restarting computer, repairing c++ distributions, and lodctr /R command.

Nothing has worked.

    Welcome @lonelyyoukai,

    Try Windows Performance Counter reset:

    1) Close the PredatorSense app;

    2) Open a Command Prompt / Windows Terminal (Administrator mode);

    3) Type these commands (copy & paste):

    %SystemRoot%\System32\lodctr.exe /R
    %SystemRoot%\SysWow64\lodctr.exe /R
    winmgmt.exe /RESYNCPERF

    4) Restart your computer.

    Follow these steps:

    1. Download the free version of Revo uninstaller and uninstalled nitro sense with it. It's important to let revo scan after uninstall because it'll find garbage files in registry that sense leaves behind and probably corrupts any new install. Let it clear those files.
    2. Go to Acer's website and download Nitrosense for your laptop. (If there's different version of nitrosense available then try them all one by one and check which one work for you)
    3. Extract folder and run Setup.exe
    4. Run Command prompt as Administrator
    5. type in the following and press enter (without the quotation marks): ".\lodctr.exe /R"
    6. Go back to the folder where you extracted Nitrosense
    7. Go into "Nitrosense V3.1" folder
    8. Run APPXBUNDLE file
    9. After that, Nitrosense immediately launched, and now it's back on my Taskbar, running every time I click on it.

    If issue, persists:

Then download and install the Microsoft Visual C++ All-in-One pack. Since NitroSense requires specific versions that may not be available on your laptop, this will help. Use the link I provided to download and install the latest Visual C++ All-in-One pack. Make sure to install both the x86 (32-bit) and x64 (64-bit) versions one by one to ensure full compatibility. As applications require both versions, even on 64-bit systems, because some programs are built for 32-bit and others for 64-bit environments

Download all in one lack from below link and run:

Why would I need to get nitrosense? I'm not using a nitro laptop

sorry. My mistake. Just replace nitrosense with predator sense. And rest steps will be same. As for appxbundle file, find it in folder like UMP or similar. It should be there somewhere

If the Predator Sense window won't open on your Predator Helios 500 PH517-61, try reinstalling the Predator Sense software and ensuring it's updated. If that doesn't work, verify if any conflicting software or drivers are interfering with the application. Additionally, explore potential hardware issues like a faulty keyboard button or a corrupted installation. Here's a more detailed troubleshooting guide:1. Reinstall Predator Sense:

    • Uninstall: Use Revo Uninstaller to thoroughly uninstall Predator Sense, including registry files and cache. Revo Uninstaller
    • Reboot: Restart your laptop.
    • Download and Install: Download the latest version of Predator Sense from the Acer website and install it. Don't open it yet.
    • Update: Go to Windows settings and update your system and check for device driver updates.
    • Reboot: Restart your laptop again.

    2. Verify Conflicts and Corrupt Installation:

    • Conflicting Software: Other software, especially older versions or conflicting drivers, may interfere with Predator Sense. Try temporarily disabling other programs that might be using the same system resources and see if that resolves the issue.
    • Corrupted Installation: A corrupted installation of Predator Sense can also cause problems. If the reinstallation process doesn't resolve the issue, try downloading the software again from the Acer website and reinstalling it.
    • Ryzen Master: Ensure you have the correct Ryzen Master software, which is specific to AMD systems and is often required for optimal performance, especially if you have an AMD CPU.

    3. Check Keyboard Button:

    • Test Button: Try pressing the Predator Sense button repeatedly and ensure it's functioning correctly.
    • Hardware Issues: A faulty keyboard button could also be the issue. If the button is sticky or doesn't register presses, it may need replacement.

    4. System Restore:

    • System Restore Point: If the problem started after an update or change to your system, you can try restoring your system to a previous point.

    5. Contact Acer Support:

    • Acer Customer Service: If none of these steps resolve the issue, contact Acer support for further assistance. They can help you diagnose hardware issues or provide specific troubleshooting steps for your laptop model.

When you say run the appxbundle, do you mean install it? Because for whatever reason, my OS does not recognize appxbundles as a "runnable" thing by default on the file explorer so I have to install it through powershell. Regardless, the method you provided did not work assuming that you meant install the appxbundle after setup.exe.

More clarification, the GUI of predator sense doesn't open, the applicaiton itself and all other proceses run fine in the background and can be used through the hardware hotkeys.

When attempting to open the GUI, it shows the predator logo to indicate opening the GUI then never actually opens the GUI.

I need to open the GUI to edit macros and look at fan speeds and cpu/gpu temperatures.

    @lonelyyoukai,

Try install Predator appxbundle file with Powershell:

#1 - Press the Windows key + X, select Windows Powershell (Admin mode)

#2 - Copy & paste the command bellow and then press [Enter], example:

    Add-AppxPackage -Path "C:\Predator Sense_Acer_5.1.295_W11x64\PredatorSense_5.1.295\UWP\bb6f6e366160440eba7488b8395362d3.appx"

    Note:

Change the drive letter and path to match the location where you unzipped the PredatorSense installation files.

"Why would I need the nitrosense when im using a predator, not a nitro?" - Answer is: because all the answers are cut and paste and they don't look at the exact laptop model that is in the post! 🤣

I own a Predator Helios Neo PHN16-71 and this has happened to me that and all of a sudden the Predator Sense didn't work and/or could be triggered by the keyboard key, this is what I did that fixed my PS, so try this out:

    1. Uninstalled the Acer Care Centre if you have this application installed, as this software conflicts with the PS app. Also uninstall any apps that you have that monitor the same things that PS does, as that could also conflict with PS.
    2. Uninstall the current Predator Sense and make sure you write down which version it is, as Acer have taken all Predator Sense version off from your Predator PH517-61 support page, so you need to get the exact PS version from a 3rd party source on the net.
    3. Make sure that you have the last bios version 1.09 installed also for your laptop.

After doing all the above reboot the laptop and reinstall the last Predator Sense version for your Predator PH517-61 model, as this is what I did and it worked and reinstated the keyboard key for PS on my PHN16-71 model laptop and its been working fine. Good luck and hope this helps you out further.
