HI, I have been using Acer Aspire 3 Core i3 N305 and recently got a black screen, I can see that the laptop is on via the power button lighting blue but the screen is black and this comes after I got a blue screen that I should update and it did automatically then worked fine for a day but after there I got a black screen, what seems to be the problem? And I tried connecting it to an external monitor but still it doesn't appear.

What exact Aspire 3 model do you have? I suggest that you first do a proper hard reset by doing this:

First press the laptops power key for 10 seconds, to release all power out of the laptop, then take the back cover off and take the main battery out, disconnect the bios battery and at the batteries board plug short the bios plug +&- pins with a metal object, to reset CMOS and if your Aspire 3 laptop has removable ram, remove that and leave the laptop like that between 30min to 1 hour.

Afterwards reconnect everything and see if the laptop boots properly and with an image. If it doesn’t then your Aspire 3 laptop has either a faulty main power rail or a shorted EC chip and you need to send your laptop to a technician that a can only fix your laptop. Good luck and hope this helps you out.

If your Acer Aspire 3 laptop is on (power button lit blue) but the screen is black, it could be due to various reasons, including display settings, hardware issues, or even just a static charge. To troubleshoot, try pressing the F2 key repeatedly as you power on to access the BIOS.

If the BIOS screen appears, the problem might be with the operating system. You can also try draining residual power, checking display settings, connecting an external monitor, or even resetting the BIOS. Troubleshooting Steps:

    1. 1. Draining Residual Power:
      • Unplug the power adapter and remove the battery (if possible).
      • Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds to drain residual power.
      • Reinstall the battery and power adapter, then try powering on the laptop.
    2. 2. Checking Display Settings:
      • Press Windows Key + P to cycle through different display modes.
    3. 3. External Monitor:
      • Connect the laptop to an external monitor to see if it displays on the monitor.
      • If it works on the external monitor, the issue is likely with the laptop's display.
    4. 4. Resetting the BIOS:
      • Reddit suggests resetting the BIOS, which might fix weird configuration errors.
    5. 5. Reinstalling Windows (if necessary):
      • If the BIOS screen appears but the laptop still doesn't display, consider backing up your data and reinstalling Windows.
    6. 6. Hardware Issues:
      • If none of the above steps work, there might be a hardware issue (e.g., display, graphics card).
      • Contact Acer's customer service or seek professional repair.
