Overheating (fan standstill)Aspire 5 17, During the boot process, the fan turns but later it stops

For a few weeks now, my Aspire 5 17 (SNID XXXXXXXXXXX) with Windows 11 Home (24H2) has had a fan problem: During the boot process, the fan turns as it should, but as soon as Windows has finished loading, it stops turning and never switches on again. This is also the case in Windows safe mode. Within minutes, the CPU temperature reaches 100°C and the heat protection shuts down the laptop with the loss of all data.

ChatGPT recommends reinstalling the Intel DTT driver and/or the chipset driver. But before I try such "dangerous" changes: Who knows this phenomenon, has anyone found the solution?

What exact model Aspire 17" laptop do you have, like A517-xx or A715-xxv etc., as and usually if the fan stops working its either the sensors or and most likely the actual fans that are faulty and you need to first make sure that its the fans by booting the laptop without the back cover and see if the fans are spinning and when. For the cpu it could be Damaged CPU Sensors: Temperature sensors on CPUs or thermistors can become unpredictable or stuck at a specific value if damaged, leading to inaccurate temperature recordings. read this article here to fully understand the theory about cpu and gpu temps.

I also suggest that you download and install the Open Hardware Monitor that is a free open source software that monitors temperature sensors, fan speeds, voltages, load and clock speeds of a computer.

The Open Hardware Monitor supports most hardware monitoring chips found on todays mainboards. The CPU temperature can be monitored by reading the core temperature sensors of Intel and AMD processors. The sensors of ATI and Nvidia video cards as well as SMART hard drive temperature can be displayed. The monitored values can be displayed in the main window, in a customizable desktop gadget, or in the system tray. The free Open Hardware Monitor software runs on 32-bit and 64-bit Microsoft Windows XP / Vista / 7 / 8 / 8.1 / 10 and any x86 based Linux operating systems without installation. good luck and hope this helps you solve this problem.

The laptop is heating up because most probably the its running on at its full speed with no power saving turned on when plugged. Its also charging the batteries which can also cause the laptop to heat up. Just make sure to check the vents of your laptop if there's hot air coming out.
It is quite normal for the laptop to heat up, since the internal electronic components may generate heat while the laptop runs, especially during power-intensive operations such as charging, updating, gaming, etc. If you have an air-conditioned room, preferably use the laptop in there.

If the room is not air conditioned, make use of a ceiling or table fan along with a laptop cooling pad. Laptop cooling pads have fans in them which help flow cool air keeping your laptop cool all time.————————————————————————
