The Microphone Toggle - Turns the microphones on or off in your Swift 3 SF314-512 laptop is NOT the Fn+F12 keys. Try the proper keys as set and instructed by Acer for your laptop from its service guide. Good luck and hope this helps you out.

No… In my lap, it's F12. Also, F3 and F4 is used to adjust brightness. However, this problem appeared when I updated drivers. So idk the reason :)

The F12 key working but the Fn + F12 (mic mute) not working on your Acer Swift 3 suggests a potential driver issue or a conflict with another application. Try updating or reinstalling the microphone driver, and check for any programs that might be using the microphone and interfering with the mute function.
Here's a more detailed breakdown of troubleshooting steps:-

    1. Check for Driver Issues:
    Update Microphone Driver:
Go to Device Manager (right-click on the Start button and select Device Manager). Expand "Audio inputs and outputs," right-click on your microphone, and select "Update driver." Choose "Search automatically for drivers."
    Reinstall Microphone Driver:
If updating doesn't help, try uninstalling the driver (right-click on the microphone in Device Manager and select "Uninstall device"). Then, restart your computer. Windows will usually reinstall the driver automatically.
    2. Check for Conflicting Applications:
    Identify Recently Installed Programs:
Look for any recently installed programs, especially those that use the microphone (e.g., voice chat applications, webcam software, voice recorders).
    Temporarily Disable or Uninstall:
Try temporarily disabling or uninstalling these programs to see if the mute function starts working. If it does, you've likely found the culprit. You can then explore settings within the conflicting application to resolve the issue.
    3. Check BIOS Settings:
    Fn Lock:-
Some laptops have a setting in the BIOS to enable or disable the "Fn Lock." If enabled, you might need to press the Fn key to activate the secondary function (like mic mute).
    Access BIOS:
To access the BIOS, you'll need to restart your computer and press the appropriate key during startup (usually F2, F10, F12, or Delete). Consult your laptop's manual or Acer's support website for the correct key.
    4. Check for Windows Issues:
    Troubleshooter:
Run the Windows Recording Audio troubleshooter. Go to Start > Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters and run the Recording Audio troubleshooter.
    System Restore:
If the issue started recently, you could try performing a system restore to a point before the problem began.
    5. Check Teams Settings (if applicable):
Toggle Mute: In Microsoft Teams, ensure that the toggle mute feature is enabled and that you're using the correct shortcut (Ctrl + Space on Windows 11)

Start by checking Acer Quick Access from the Start menu to ensure the Fn key settings are enabled. If the issue persists, reinstall the keyboard drivers by opening Device Manager, expanding Keyboards, right-clicking your keyboard driver, and selecting Uninstall device. Restart your laptop to allow Windows to reinstall the driver automatically. Additionally, update the audio drivers by expanding Sound, video, and game controllers in Device Manager, right-clicking Realtek Audio, and selecting Update driver. Verify that microphone access is enabled by navigating to Settings > Privacy & Security > Microphone and ensuring the microphone is turned on.
