Acer Aspire 5750Z cooler upgrade issues

Hello, a while ago i decided to upgrade my laptop's processor up to an i7-2630QM, the highest supported, however i found that the laptop ran noticeably hotter after the upgrade (which makes sense considering the jump to 45W). I tried to install a replacement cooler for an Acer Aspire 5750G (the one with the additional GPU line) but the fan refused to spin up (i literally had to pry open the keyboard and spin it up myself, which made it spin for about 30 seconds before stopping again). Is this a hardware issue or is there a BIOS setting I'd need to change?

The 2011 Aspire 5070, 5070G and the 5057Z model laptops oem Acer drivers have been discontinued by Acer support a long time ago, but with a cpu upgrade to the i7-2630QM cpu, its essential that you run the last bios version for this laptop.

As far as I know the last bios version for these laptops was the version 1.19 (dated; 03/05/2012) which you can get from a 3rd party site called HelpDrivers that are trustworthy and they have this bios version and this site also has available a total of 75 files for the Acer Aspire 5750Z laptop. If you have a lover bios version then update to the 1.19 bios and see if the thermal fan will work with the upgraded i7-2630QM cpu. Good luck and hope this helps you out.

Also check the cpu fan if its working and its not faulty, below are all the heatsinks and Fans listed for the Aspire 5057 and the (G) model for your information from the Acer service guide.

For further diagnostics check your existing HM65 chipset mainboard also, as that could be faulty and a culprit in not running the fans. Below are a list of all the mainboards and their gpu's fitted to the Aspire 5750 and the 5750G laptops.
