Hi Acer Community,

I have an Acer Veriton VX6680G, and the motherboard has this 2-pin wireless header. I would like to know the purpose of this header. What is the best use case of this wireless header?

And second, I have 2 cooling fan connectors, I would like to install at least one, but I cannot really find any space to install one … has anyone been successful in installing a cooling fan inside the chassis of this veriton pc?

Thanks

There is no such thing as a "2-Pin wireless charger header" the Veriton X6680 desktop does not have a wireless charger, be more specific or take a caption of this 2 pin header that you think is a 2pin wireless charger header on your desktop so that we know exactly what you mean. Also, this desktop doesn't have a wireless phone charger on top of the case like the Nitro N50 desktops have, so be more specific.

Note: the below caption is a caption as an example, from the Nitro N50-650 desktops wireless charger 2 pin header for its wireless charger for smartphones that your Veriton X6680G model doesn't have. The Veriton X6680G has at #18 bord caption below, a A1-A2 - 2 pin GPIO header if that is what you mean for a wireless charger, as I don't know if these headers can be used for a wireless charger like in the Nitro N50 desktops for smartphones and/or if there Acer has the hardware for this function for your X6680G as the Veriton X6680 doesn't have any details in its service guide for a wireless charger like the Nitro N50 models do in their service guide.

Below is a caption of your Veriton X6680 mainboard placement connectors as shown in its service guide, there is at #18 a A1-A2 - 2 pin GPIO headers if that is what you mean?

Below is a detail of this desktops chassis fan that connects at #27 SYS+FAN1 plug, there is no other provision for a chassis fan as the other plug is a CPU_FAN at #3 plug which is for the cpu cooler. The only other way to fit another chassis fan is to modify the desktops case and get a twin plug adapter cable and connect that to the #27 SYS+FAN1 plug.

    Hi Steve,

    Thanks for your reply.

I have this 2-pin wireless header listed as W_CHARGER_10W. Please see the photo of the motherboard diagram below, which is printed on the inside of the PC panel.

Also, as per your picture, I can see there are 2 System cooling fans listed: 17 and 27…. The same goes for me too, but different numbers, 18 and 29. I reckon there is definitely a provision for 2 system cooling fans, but unfortunately, there is not even enough space to install one.

Once I install a GPU, I dont see any room left to install a fan on the back panel. Please see photos below:

    Acer Fr Panel.jpg

    Acer Back Panel.jpg

I reckon the back panel is about 3.9 inches wide.

Thanks for your suggestion on installing a fan, I will take a photo of me chassis and post it for better understanding.

    Cheers.

The #13 on your mobo diagram W_Charger_10W plug might be for a wireless charger, but your Veriton should have included the waterless charger hardware, as there is nothing listed in the Veriton X6680G service guide for any wireless charger parts.

With the case fan, see if you can install another case fan on the front panel, shown below, as there are vents and screw holes for a fan installation. Its a bit hard to acetan the space of your Veriton as the service guide does NOT have very good photos of the case and its spaces and the service guide only shows the back case fan in detail and does not show anything for an optional case fan. Good luck and hope I've been of some assistance.

Thanks, Steven, you have been very helpful.

My Veriton is an Enterprise edition, Model: "Veriton VX6680 E FR300W". It did not come with a wireless hardware charger, but I am wondering if other Acer products, like you mentioned, provide wireless charging functionality, and if I could install it somewhere, as that would be a welcome addition to me product.

I will open the chassis tonight and take some photos for your better understanding.

    Have a good one.

    Cheers
