Hi, if you don't see this option in your Swift-Spin BIOS even after pressing Ctrl+S (see picture red box) the KB backlite timing can't be controlled.

The keyboard backlight turning off automatically after a short period, like 20-30 seconds, is usually due to a timeout setting in the BIOS or a driver issue. To fix this, you can try adjusting the backlight timeout setting in the BIOS, updating or reinstalling keyboard drivers, or performing hardware resets.
Here's how to troubleshoot and fix the issue:

    1. Check and Adjust BIOS Settings:
      Access BIOS:
Restart your computer and repeatedly press the key (usually F2, F10, F12, or Delete) during startup to enter the BIOS.
      Locate Backlight Timeout:
Navigate through the BIOS menu to find the "Keyboard Backlight Timeout" or similar setting.
      Adjust Timeout:
Select a longer timeout (e.g., "Never") or disable the timeout entirely to keep the backlight on constantly.
    2. Update or Reinstall Keyboard Drivers:
Open Device Manager: Press Windows key + R, type "devmgmt.msc", and press Enter.
Find Keyboards: Expand the "Keyboards" section.
Update Drivers: Right-click on the keyboard driver and select "Update driver software." Choose to search automatically for updated drivers or browse your computer for drivers if you have a saved driver.
Uninstall and Restart: If updating doesn't work, right-click and select "Uninstall device." Restart your computer, and Windows should automatically reinstall the driver.
    3. Perform Hardware Resets:
      EC/RTC Reset:
ASUS support suggests performing an EC (Embedded Controller) reset or RTC (Real-Time Clock) reset. This can restore hardware to default settings.
      Hard Reset:
If the above doesn't work, try a hard reset by unplugging the power cable and battery (if applicable) and holding the power button for a minute.
    4. Other Potential Solutions:
      Check for Function Key:
Some keyboards require pressing the Fn (function) key along with the backlight key to activate the backlight.
      Check for Specific Software:
Some laptops may have specific software or utilities for controlling keyboard backlight settings.
      Contact Support:
If none of the above solutions work, consider contacting your laptop manufacturer's support for further assistance.
