Hi,

My dad passed away and I have rec uperated his Swith 12. I did a full reset and now I'm re-installing it. I tried to register the product or enter the SN and SNID on the support page for drivers download and both are not accepted. that is un acceptable for a pc of just 7 years old taht has been used less than a few hours per week. What can I do to download drivers, latest Bios and eventual patches.

There is only the BIOS still available on the Acer Support page: version1.06 dated 2018/07/16 but no drivers, this 2017 model is no longer supported by Acer and Microsoft, but you can find all the drivers on this site: Acer SA5-271 Notebooks & Tablet PCs > Downloads Drivers, Manual, Firmware and BIOS

Thanks for the Link. I have downloaded the Bios and keyboard firmware's. The keyboard is sometimes not responding and I hope it helps to resolve this.

To my knowledge is Windows10 still supported until October 14th 2025.

Nearly every other brand of computer I have ever used allows to download drivers at least 10 years. This device was bought in 2018. I expect to be able to find the drivers on the Acer site.

This is the first Acer I own and if Acer doesn't change their policy with regards to downloading Bios, applications and drivers, it wil be the last one.

If the serial number (SN) and SNID are not being recognized by Acer support for your Switch SA5-271, it's likely due to a mismatch between the information you're entering and what's in Acer's database. Double-check the serial number and SNID on the device itself, as they are typically found on a label on the bottom. Typos can also lead to unrecognized numbers.
    Here's how to troubleshoot:

    1. Locate the SN and SNID:
The serial number (SN) and SNID are typically located on a label on the bottom of the device.
You can also find the serial number in the system BIOS or through Acer software tools like the Serial Number Detection Tool or Acer Care Center.
    2. Verify the accuracy of your input:
Double-check for any typos or errors when entering the SN and SNID.
Make sure you're not accidentally including letters in the SNID, as it should be a 11 or 12 digit number.
Acer serial numbers are 22 alpha-numeric characters and never use the letter "O".
    3. Check Acer's support website for known issues:
Some users have reported issues with the Acer support website's database not recognizing SNIDs.
    4. If the problem persists, consider contacting Acer support:
You can reach out to Acer's support channels (phone, online chat, or email) to get further assistance.
By carefully reviewing the SN and SNID, ensuring accurate data entry, and checking for any known issues, you should be able to resolve the recognition problem.

Hi, I thought I might be making typing errors, so I downloaded the tool "SerialnumberDetectiontool" from the Acer website. This detects the SN and SNID which can be copied and pasted in the field. I tried both and they failed.

The Serial reported has 22 characters, the SNID 11 characters

The Bios on the computer is 1.01, so clearly never updated.

I downloaded the different bios on the link below:

Acer SA5-271 Notebooks & Tablet PCs > Downloads Drivers, Manual, Firmware and BIOS

They all fail to install and are not really trustworthy I think. The startup screen has no ACER logo, but a "Inside" text logo and says "Welcome to Inside Flash". The current ID of My laptop is Swich SA5-271 —> correct and the new ID would be C4PB1 which is a Acer Travelmate and not a Switch 12. I also get a Error message: "WDM: Get Flash part information error!"

Can someone provide me a trustworthy link to the correct BIOS's for the Switch 12?

Thanks for the feedback so far.

Bios v 1.04 would be ideal.
