I have a Acer Predator Helios 16. I would like to disable or remove the battery when not needed. Is there a way to do this? Acer does not seem to easily give you a way to remove your battery since it is sealed. I also read it voids your warranty if you remove your battery. Acer only gives you a one year warranty. It has already been a year. Is there a way to disable the battery? There is no reason to burn through your battery when you don't need it. Your battery only has so many charge cycles in it. I mainly keep my computer plugged in. I only need my battery when I travel. I only travel occasionally.

You can't run a modern gaming laptop without a battery, only when you plan to store the laptop for several years you could remove the battery but leaving it inside the laptop to charge it periodically during the storing period is recommended. Do not run your laptop without the power adapter and keep the battery charged to 100% at all times to get maximum lifespan out of a laptop battery, do not try to "Optimize" a battery or to limit the charging to 80% with Acer's or 3rd-party software.

You can turn on the 80% battery charging limit in Predator Sense. This will put less stress on the battery health.

Why are you saying don't use the optimize battery feature? Do you know why the other person is saying to use the optimize battery feature? On my previous 2 laptops my batteries both died VERY quickly keeping them plugged in all the time. What happens when you remove the battery? All previous laptops I have removed the battery with no issues. No point to carry around a big heavy battery that does not work.

Hi, google this forum, there is a lot posted on this topic, general consensus is that limiting the charging to preserve Li-Ion battery lifespan is a myth that interferes with Windows11 power management. Also keeping the battery charged to 100% will reduce your charge cycles limited to maximum 1,000 full charge cycles. Acer Care Center is not well written and does not run well in Windows11, Acer no longer includes the battery charge limiting option in the latest version, Some batteries (mostly older external battery packs) are wired in parallel circuit and when removed laptops can still boot with the adapter. Most modern portable systems have batteries wired in series so when the Smart chip inside a Li-Ion battery disables the battery or you remove the battery the laptop won't boot. Also Windows11 and BIOS will abort when no or a bad battery is detected.

I'm not really sure why. There is no evidence to say that. Limiting charging to 80% will put less stress on the battery and extend its life.
