Hello, I have removed the battery from my laptop today due to it being faulty and I do not want to purchase another battery. My laptop charger is 180W, 19.5V 9.23A but I don't think its an official Acer charger because its made by Chicony. My laptop automatically shuts down under heavy loads because it can't pull enough power from the charger and is it safe if I buy a higher Watt charger like a 240W or a 280W charger? My current charger is in the attachments.

Some info about the laptop:

Model: Acer Nitro 5 (AN515-45-R7YG), I hope this is the model

OS: Fedora 42 Linux

And also, please tell me where I could purchase an Acer battery, and if it could be shipped to Romania.

Thank you in advance.

The original Nitro AN515-45 adapter charger is from Chicony, so your 180W adapter is genuine and NOT a copy.

Be warned, always use a battery in your laptop, never only use the adapter charger, as your laptop is made for the max 180W adapter charger and putting a higher adapter like a 240W will not increase the power to your laptop when gaming or for high end use. The reason why your laptop is being starved for power is because of the faulty battery that the laptop uses when the adapter can't supply enough power to the laptop, the AN515-45 power rail is limited to drawing a limit of what the 180W adapter can output and then it switches off and draws the rest of the power required from the battery. Do not put a higher adapter as you could cause damage and even cause a fire within your laptop or fry its power rail.

I suggest that you search the web by the battery Acer highlighted Acer part numbers shown below, only buy a new genuine Acer battery for your Nitro AN515-45 model, see Zandparts Acer Battery Polymer 4C 3720mAh as they ship all their products within Europe as they are in Denmark and they will ship to Romania, but this battery is not cheap as its €109.63 plus delivery. Good luck and hope this helps you to solve this problem.
